The incident involving Shannon Sharpe shook things up on social media. It became the target of both criticism and netizens’ hilarious jests. An indirect message from the NFL legend even tried to explain the situation, claiming that he had been hacked. However, the Denver Broncos legend ultimately made the right decision by coming clean to his fans.
Despite revealing the truth that he wasn’t hacked, Sharpe was roasted in the comments section of his Instagram by his 3.2 million followers, including Michael Jordan’s son, Marcus Jordan. Sharpe addressed the matter on his show, Night Cap, which was later shared by The Shade Room.
Fans’ comments on the Instagram post continued teasing Sharpe, although many others tried to normalize the situation. So, what exactly happened?
The NFL legend accidentally went live on Instagram during an intimate moment. While no face appeared on camera, the audio was clearly heard by his followers. One of his staffers eventually stepped up to post that the account was “hacked.” But Sharpe did not think it right.
Shannon Sharpe clarified his stance on his show
Earlier, there was a message on Shannon Sharpe’s Instagram story claiming the account had been hacked. “Beware my @shannonsharpe84 Instagram was hacked this morning, my team and I are working vigorously to figure this out — UNC,” the message read.
However, Sharpe later felt it was the right thing to confess the truth. After revealing that one of his staffers had put up the story, which he immediately deleted after learning about it, he shared that he had simply dropped his phone on the bed, which somehow triggered the Instagram Live. And that took the social media by storm. “I’m embarrassed,” he started. “I did not know IG Live. I’ve never been on IG Live. I’ve never turned IG Live on, so I don’t know how it works,” Shannon Sharpe said.
Sharpe’s co-host Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson shared how his phone was blowing up with notifications, leaving him thinking something terrible had happened. Later on his show, Sharpe clarified that he wasn’t embarrassed by the act itself, but rather by how the situation went down. The NSFW clip was quickly taken down.
