The new teamup of Enrique Gil and Liza Soberano should not be compared to current popular loveteam Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla, says director Cathy Garcia-Molina.

The blockbuster movie director—who directed Kathniel in Got to Believe thatbecame a hit television series—says the new loveteam in her upcoming soap Forevermore has something different to offer.

“’Yon naman ang exciting, kapag bago pa lang ang nakakatrabaho mo, parang ang sarap pang paglaruan.

“Ang hirap kapag senior actors, ang hirap na i-undo ‘yong old techniques nila.

“Di katulad ng kapag bago, open pa ‘yong range nila.

“Noong nalaman kong gagawin ko [ang Forevermore], na-excite ako kasi after Kathniel, parang iba naman,” says Cathy in an interview with PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) and other entertainment reporters during a set visit in Tuba, Benguet on Tuesday, October 22.

Through this new romantic-comedy series, Cathy said, she would be introducing Liza Soberano to the audience properly. Forevermore is slated to air weeknights starting Monday, October 27, on ABS-CBN Primetime Bida.

Liza was included in Got to Believe as a third party to the lovestruck characters of Joaquin (Daniel) and Chichay (Kathryn).

Direk Cathy further recalled, “Ang hirap lang dito sa G2B, si Liza is coming in as a rival of Kathryn to the Kathniel tandem.

“Somehow, it started on the wrong foot kasi ang daming bashers, daming haters.

“So, mayroon akong ano sa sarili ko na maipakilala siya, ‘yon naman po ay role lang at itong batang ito ay napakabait at may sariling galing.”

She also added that during G2B, she saw Liza as a potential actor.

“Sabi ko kasi si Liza, noong nakatrabaho ko sa Got to Believe, meron ‘tong batang ito.

“Kaso lang, sobrang bata niya, as in walang kaalam-alam.

“Pero mayroon kang makikita kasi hindi ko naman titiyagain kung wala,” she said.

In the same vein, Direk Cathy also wants to re-introduce Enrique to viewers of Forevermore.

She pointd out, “Si Quen din naman, somehow pagkatapos ng Princess and I [2013 teleserye], na dapat second stringer lang kay Daniel, parang mayroon din akong ano na iangat o i-revive para sabihin na pwede rin siya.”

The female director also stressed, “Hindi naman sila comparable ni Daniel kasi magkaibang-magkaiba ang brand essence nila.

“Ito [si Enrique] pang boy-next-door, si Daniel naman parang Robin Padilla naman ‘yon.

“So, hindi magiging pareho ang projects nila kasi ‘yong role na para kay Daniel ay parang tailor-made din para sa kanya.

“Mas malawak ang range ni Enrique kasi wala pang ganung ID na tina-tag.

“Si Daniel kasi is parang bad boy, siya wala. So si Enrique, he can be anybody, he can play any role kaya masaya siyang laruin.”

PLOT. Forevermore is a unique tale about first love that blossomed between two different people—the rebellious and irresponsible unico hijo of a hotel magnate, Xander (Enrique), and the feisty and hardworking Agnes (Liza) who is tagged as the Strawberry Jam Queen of La Trinidad, Benguet.

To teach him a lesson, his parents made him pay for the damages he caused by making him work at the strawberry farm under the guidance of Agnes and other strawberry farmers.

Completing the cast of this romantic-comedy series are Sofia Andres, Yves Flores, Kit Thompson, Zoren Legazpi, Lilet, Marissa Delgado, Joey Marquez, and Almira Muhlach.
