MANILA, Philippines—Paris Olympics 2024 double-gold medalist Carlos Yulo shared a short but heartfelt message to his father Mark Andrew on Wednesday.
In a Facebook post shared by Carlos, he thanked his father for showing up during the Heroes’ Parade for Team Philippines.
“Maraming salamat Pa, masaya ako nakita kita don nakasuporta!” wrote Carlos on social media.
(Thank you so much, Pa. I’m happy that I saw you there and supporting me!)
“Pasensya na pa hindi ako masyado nakakaway, ang daming nag pa autograph hehe,” added the 24-year-old Yulo.
(Sorry if I couldn’t wave at you as much as I wanted to, a lot of people were asking for my autograph.)
Family members were not allowed to join Team Philippines’ float but that did not hinder the elder Yulo from showing his love for his son as he was part of the crowd along Roxas Boulevard.
Mark was visibly emotional, waving and sending heart gestures toward his son, who made history as the first Filipino to win two Olympic gold medals.
It was a touching moment between the two that came on the heels of their family’s well-publicized rift involving Carlos’ mother Angelica.
“Kitakits soon, Pa (See you soon, Pa),” said Carlos.
