Andrea Brillantes thích không ở trong một đội tình yêu

Andrea Brillantes has explained why she preferred to be a solo actor than being in a love team, saying she found “personal growth” in her acting career.

In a media press conference for ABS-CBN’s hit primetime series Senior High, the lead actress said that her character as Sky/Luna and co-actor Kyle Echarri’s Obet were “not really a love team” but they were “very thankful” to Dreamscape Entertainment for giving them the chance to collaborate again after their Kadenang Ginto days.

“After like two to three years, we were given great roles but like what Kyle said, he has upcoming projects. So I think the viewers can expect individual projects from us. We are also thankful to KyleDrea fans (for the support),” stated Andrea.

The finale of Senior High will reveal all dirty secrets and expose who really killed Luna in the final episode on Jan. 19.

Andrea Brillantes supports love teams but has found ‘personal growth’ in her acting career by not being tied up to one.

Andrea recalled that she began acting at seven years old and had a sort of onscreen partner at the age of 10 in the family drama series Annaliza (2013).

She was previously paired up with Grae Fernandez, Seth Fedelin and Juan Karlos Labajo.

“I’ve been through a lot of shows where I always have an (onscreen) partner. Then I had the opportunity na pwede na ko mag-solo artist. It’s like I want to explore it and I’m enjoying it right now,” she offered.

She added that she was able to get to know more about herself as an actress.

“Mas madami lang po akong pwede paglaruan (roles) and I get to work with other new actors. Parang antagal ko lang kasing madaming partners. (I) just wanted something new.”

While she is still young, it’s easier for her to explore a variety of characters, she maintained. “And while hindi pa ako super sanay para hindi ako maging super dependent din po sa for example kung magkaka-partner ako.”

Nonetheless, Andrea is supportive of all the actors who are in a love team. “But maybe I realized, I think it is not just for me being paired up with an (onscreen) partner. I think personally mas nakakakita ako ng personal growth kapag mag-isa po ako eh.”

“But I support love teams,” she reiterated. “(I have) nothing against them… It’s just my personal opinion and experience ko lang po yun.”

In the same presscon, Andrea and her friend and co-star Xyriel Manabat (as Roxy) expressed that they are open to do lesbian roles if they will be teamed up in a GL (girls’ love) project.

“As I’ve said before, ‘pag naga-asaran kami halimbawa, nagtatanungan kami nila Kuya Zaijian (Jaranilla) or nagtatanungan kami ng boyfriend ko kung OK lang kaya to do a kissing scene. When they asked me, kung totoo yung sa amin ni Archie (Elijah Canlas), wala po talagang dumidikit dun (kissing scene),” clarified Xyriel.

But if ever she will do a kissing scene, she would like it to be with a girl actor and also with her friend, Andrea. She explained, “I feel that I will be comfortable ‘pag ganun and feeling ko walang ilangan, less issue and less hassle. And it’s also an experience. It’s a fulfilling experience for an actress.”

“I noticed that there’s a lot of BL (boys love) series now and only a few GL (girls love) shows,” Andrea reacted. “So if ever lang naman po, I would be comfortable doing it with my best friend (Xyriel) because she is a great actress. And we will also learn a lot from each other. But I respect her boyfriend. So it’s OK.”
