Nadine Lustre on repeating outfits

Luxury holds a unique meaning for different individuals. For Nadine Lustre, it transcends the confines of a price tag.

“Luxury for me, it means something that’s very valuable,” she told PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) in an exclusive interview during the Gucci Greenbelt Store opening on September 6, 2023.

Nadine extends this philosophy to her fashion selections, now prioritizing refined, timeless pieces that complement her body type. The 29-year-old actress expressed,> “I think now it’s becoming more refined. Before, I liked experimenting with the stuff that I wear.

“But now, saka back then parang hindi ko din masyadong alam kung gusto ko gawin with my fashion. But I guess now, it’s becoming more refined. And this time around, I know what I want to wear now,” she explained.

Which style does she usually avoid?

She replied, “Skinny jeans or anything na tight na pants.

“This is just because of my body shape. I’m an inverted triangle. So, hindi flattering sa akin yung wala akong hips.

“So I try to avoid anything that’s fitted sa baba.”

Nadine on repeating outfits

When asked if she repeats outfits, Nadine answered proudly, “Of course!”

She acknowledged that she once believed it was frowned upon on social media. “You know, there’s always been this thing with repeating outfits, especially with celebrities. Parang there’s always this comment na pag nakitang sinuot mo ulit, ‘Ay, bakit suot niya ulit? Wala na siyang damit?

“Ako, I always repeat my outfits. Just because I don’t see the point in… buying [splurging] now. But back then, it was totally different. I didn’t really know back then. But then eventually, I realized na you really have to learn how to reuse or really wear your clothes. Just because, sayang kasi.”

Nadine further underscored the significance of sustainable fashion. “I mean, fashion is one of the most polluting industries in the world. So no problem with repeating outfits as long as you know the value and the importance of the clothes that you’re wearing.”

And, of course, everyone should get value for their money, she added, “Yeah, kailangan mag-R.O.I.”

“I mean, if you can always style it differently, I don’t think that’s going to be a problem.”
