Carlos Yulo’s grandfather Rodrigo Frisco said he is very excited to see his grandson again.

Frisco was among the ones who first encouraged Yulo to try gymnastics.

“Congratulations, Caloy. Sobrang miss na miss ka na namin,” Frisco said in Mariz Umali’s 24 Oras report on Monday.

“Napakatagal na nating hindi nagkakasama at nakakapag usap,” he said. “Proud na proud kami.”

Yulo, along with other Olympians, will return to the Philippines on Tuesday night at the Villamor Airbase.

Upon their arrival, loved ones chosen by the athletes will welcome them.

From the Villamor Airbase, the athletes will be brought to the Malacañan Palace where President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, Jr. and First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos will welcome them.

An awarding ceremony will be done in the Palace’s ceremonial hall which will be followed by a dinner reception.

Each Olympian will be given a Presidential Citation, while Yulo will also receive a Presidential Medal of Merit. The Olympians will also receive cash incentives from the Office of the President on top of the mandated rewards for medalists.

On Wednesday afternoon, a 7.7-kilometer parade as part of the Hero’s Welcome will be held from Aliw Theater to the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex.

Upon arriving at Rizal Memorial, a short program will be held.
