CocoJul shippers erupted in ‘kilig’ when Coco Martin and Julia Montes subtly went public with their relationship after years of dating rumors. In a recent interview, Coco was prompted to talk about his feelings for Julia, and divulged that they have been dating for 12 years, “Napakasarap ng pakiramdam namin dahil 12 years na kaming magkasama pero pareho pa rin tulad ng dati,” he said.
Julia seconded, “Kung ano ‘yung position naming ngayon, sobrang blessed lang talaga kami. And never nawala sa center si God, so hindi nawawala ang mga good stuff. Si God talaga ang center.”
It was the moment CocoJul fans have long waited for! And since everyone’s still over the moon after the ‘kilig’ confession, Kapamilya Update prepared something for all CocoJul lovers. In this video, we look back on the couple’s teleseryes and movie projects together in the past 12 years.
Coco and Julia were first paired in a teleserve via Walang Hanggan in 2011. In an interview with Magandang Buhay, he described the series as, “dito nagsimula ang lahat.” Here, they breathed life into Daniel and Katerina’s everlasting love that has gone through a lot of pain and challenges and restored our faith in a love that will never be broken – even by death.
Their follow-up project happened on the big screen via “A Moment In Time” in 2013. In this movie shot in the Philippines, Paris, and Amsterdam, Coco and Julia gave warm, heartfelt, and refreshing elements to the classic poor-boy-meets-rich-girl trope. He played Patrick, a struggling artist, who pursued the shy Jillian (Julia) by painting her face on street walls. The budding romance, however, was tested by an event in both their families’ past.
Ikaw Lamang (2014) marked their return to primetime. They joined forces with Kim Chiu and Jake Cuenca in telling this riveting narrative about love that spanned decades and different generations. In the first season, they portrayed the married couple Samuel and Mona, who lived during the 1950s to 1980s. And as an on-screen couple, CocoJul didn’t deprive their fans of tender moments.
The pair jumped from drama to fantasy via Wansapanataym Presents YamIshita’s Treasure (2015), where they took viewers to fun and action-packed treasure hunt summer adventures.
It took a while before the loveteam got reunited on TV. Thus, CocoJul-deprived hearts got a splash of ‘kilig’ and excitement when FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano announced its new season and new cast including Julia in 2021. Julia portrayed Mara, the long lost daughter of President Oscar Hidalgo (Rowell Santiago) and Aurora (Sharon Cuneta); and the adopted daughter of Armando (John Estrada) and Lolita (Rosanna Roces), the couple who betrayed Coco’s Cardo Dalisay and his squad.
And after years of anticipating who Cardo’s character will actually end up with, viewers were surprised when Cardo reunited with Mara, who was presumed dead. The reunion during the final gap of the show’s historic finale episode was brief but romantic, hinting at their happily ever after.
Raise your hand if you’ve been an avid follower of CocoJul’s love journey since 2011!
