Everyone seems to be writing Manny Pacquiao off in his comeback this year but why? Let’s take a look.
Okay, Pacquiao is now 45-years-old and is not in his prime but he still has enough speed, power, ability, determination and all round boxing IQ to beat most welterweights out there.
Fighters seem to be jealous that he could be coming back to a world title shot at the end of the year.
He must first however come through a three-round fight on July 28th in Japan on RIZIN, after that, it will be interesting to see how Pacquiao’s speed and combinations were in that fight.
That will show a lot later this month, alas.
He then most likely will begin the task of getting in real twelve round world championship fight shape.
A very different matter indeed.
A savage matter no less but its one he will surely summon the courage to do, one last time.
One last title fight most likely against Marrio Barrios.
But let’s be real, Pacquiao has not been going out on late night boozers or burning the candle at both ends in the last ten years or so, either.
He has settled down into family and work life in his native Philippines and has looked after himself with keeping fit by playing other sports like basketball.
Therefore age does not have the same effect it has on him that it would on others.
An eight-weight world champion that’s something no one has ever done.
Don’t write him off.
Age is just a number for “Pacman”.
