Alden Richards shared that he became closer to his leading lady Kathryn Bernardo while filming “Hello, Love, Again,” saying the upcoming film gave them a chance to know each other better.
The actor, who just got back recently ’s back in the Philippines from Canada, told 24 Oras broadcast on Friday, Aug. 30 that working again with Bernardo on “Hello, Love, Again” made their bond closer.
“Mas naging solid, mas naging close, mas nakilala namin ang isa’t isa (We became more solid, we became closer, and we got to know each other better). You really get to know the person once you work with her in a set-up na matagal magkasama (for a long time),” he said.
Richards and Bernardo wrapped up their scenes in Alberta, Canada last August, and the actor was also seen filming in Hong Kong last June. It remains unknown if the movie had wrapped up filming for good.
He also shared that he got nostalgic when filming ended since his friendship with the cast and crew became stronger. He also hinted that the movie will show a “more mature take” on Ethan and Joy’s story.
“I felt a bit sentimental, of course, with the place. Ang haba ng time na magkakasama kami [sa Canada] so nagulat ako na in an instant, tapos na pala siya (We were together for a long time in Canada so I was surprised that it was done in an instant),” he said.
Richards’ schedule was packed as he was also shooting the historical drama “Pulang Araw” at the same time that he was filming “Hello, Love, Again,” but he was still able to squeeze in an appearance at the GMA’s Sparkle Tour in the US and Canada.
“It’s always been worth it naman. Of course, it’s tiring physically but the mere fact that you’re blessed with work, and you’re able to do those things in a short span of time, nakakatuwa kasi at least, na-cover ko siya. Nagawa natin siya kahit marami tayong ginagawa on the side,” he said.

“Hello, Love, Again” is the sequel to the hit 2019 film “Hello, Love, Again,” which is currently the second highest-grossing Filipino film. It tells the story of Joy (Bernardo) and Ethan (Richards) who find love despite their respective troubles as overseas Filipino workers.
