Carlos Yulo is looking forward to his well-deserved vacation once his public engagements conclude following his big win at the Olympics.
“He wants to rest. He really wants to. He’s asking that if I can rest after this,” Gymnastics Association of the Philippines (GAP) president Cynthia Carrion said as reported by ABS-CBN News.
Carlos will be traveling around the Philippines for his vacation.

“He’s never seen the Philippines. He’s never seen Boracay. He’s never seen Palawan. He’s never seen the beauty of the Philippines. So, this time, I want him to have time off to see Boracay and go places,” Cynthia relayed.
Before his vacation, Carlos will do another public engagement in Paris. The athlete will also be training again.
“He’s leaving for Paris again in September for Toyota [where] he has deliverables. So, he’s going to Toyota, and that’s his last. After that, he’s going to come back,” Cynthia relayed.
She went on: “Of course, he’s going to continue training because a gymnast cannot be without training. And then he’s going to go on vacation.”
After his big triumph in Olympics, Carlos arrived in Manila on August 13. The gymnast alongside the other Filipino athletes were invited to the Malacañang for a Heroes’ Welcome Ceremony.
In the palace ceremony, Carlos received ₱20 million for his double Olympic gold at the Paris Olympics as mandated by the National Athletes and Coaches Benefits and Incentives Act. The president also awarded him the Presidential Medal of Merit.
On August 14, Carlos attended the turn over for his three-bedroom condominium from Megaworld Corporation at McKinley Hill.
In the afternoon, Carlos participated in a 7.7-kilometer homecoming parade which started from the Aliw Theatre in Pasay City and concluded at the Rizal Memorial Stadium in Manila.
“Proud na proud ako sa mga nakatayo dito (sa harapan)… Mas gagalingan po namin sa susunod na competitions and asahan niyo po na mas makakauha po tayo ng mas maraming medals po,” Carlos remarked during the program at the Rizal Memorial Stadium.
Carlos is the first Filipino athlete to clich two gold medals at the Olympics. He was hailed as the champion for the men’s artistic gymnastics floor exercise finals and vault finals in Paris.
