“This year, we will come home. We will love again. We will find joy.”

GMA Pictures and Star Cinema’s upcoming movie Hello, Love, Again released the movie’s first teaser that paid tribute to Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs).

The one-minute video looked at the sacrifices to OFWs to provide a better life for their family.

The phrase appeared on the video, “This year, we will come home. We will love again. We will find joy.”

Before the video ended, it showed Ethan, portrayed by Asia’s Multimedia Star Alden Richards,’ finding Joy, played by Kathryn Bernardo, at the airport.

Hello, Love, Goodbye told the story of Ethan and Joy, who were both struggling OFWs in Hong Kong. Their romance didn’t blossom as Joy chose to pursue her dreams as a nurse in Canada.

In Hello, Love, Again, Ethan and Joy reunite in Canada, five years after they separated.

Hello, Love, Again will be the first film collaboration between Star Cinema and GMA Pictures.

Directed by Cathy Garcia-Sampana, Hello, Love, Again will be shown exclusively in cinemas on November 13, 2024.

‘Hello, Love, Again’ is the sequel to the 2019 film ‘Hello, Love, Goodbye,’ which was the highest-grossing Filipino film before it was surpassed by ‘Rewind.’

In ‘Hello, Love, Goodbye,’ both Ethan and Joy, Alden and Kathryn’s characters, were OFWs (Overseas Filipino Worker) in Hong Kong. Ethan worked as a bartender while Joy was a domestic helper. They started seeing each other but their relationship was cut short because Joy pursues her dream to become a nurse in Canada.

In ‘Hello, Love, Again,’ Ethan and Joy reunites in Canada after five years. According to a report by Deadline, Ethan and Joy meet again in Canada “after fighting for their love to conquer the time, distance, and a global shutdown that kept them apart.” Unfortunately, they soon realize that “they have also changed a lot, individually.”

According to the film’s director Cathy Garcia-Sampana, ‘Hello, Love, Again’ will tell a different story of OFWs in Canada. In fact, they already had an immersion to fully understand their stories. She said, “Tinutuloy lang natin ‘yung kuwento, lumilipat lang ng lugar pero this is all about Filipino workers working and living abroad. May iba pala talagang kuwento ‘pag lumipat ka na ng bansa. The journey and the learnings na nakuha namin from OFWs sa Hong Kong, na-realize namin na iba sa kuwento ng mga taga-Canada.”

The reunion of Ethan and Joy in Canada would also reflect what happened in the real world five years after they separated. Writer Carmi Raymundo said, “Lot of changes kasi five years from 2019 nu’ng natapos ‘yung ‘Hello, Love, Goodbye,’ sakto ang daming nagbago sa mundo after.”

Crystal Hazel San Miguel, who will co-write the story with Carmy, added, “Dahil nabago ‘yung mundo, for sure, nabago rin ‘yung characters, ‘yung mga pinagdaanan nila. And siyempre, ang pinakamalaking tanong, nagbago ba ‘yung love they have for each other?”

‘Hello, Love, Again’ marks the first movie collaboration between ABS-CBN’s Star Cinema and GMA Network’s GMA Pictures. For GMA Pictures President Atty. Annette Gozon-Valdes, ‘Hello, Love, Goodbye’ is the “best movie” to begin the two film outlet’s collaborations.

‘Hello, Love, Again’ will be shown exclusively in cinemas on November 13, 2024.
