Manny Pacquiao is set to give Caloy Yulo a reward out of his own pocket

The 45-year-old boxing great said Yulo will definitely receive a financial reward from him for becoming the first ever Filipino to win two gold medals in the quadrennial showcase.

The sportsman and former senator however, would rather not disclose the amount to be given.

“Meron din siguro, pero para sa akin, personal ko na siguro yun. Hindi na natin ia-announce,” said Pacquiao during the formal launching of the MPVA (Maharlika Pilipinas Volleyball Association) second season at the Sheraton Manila Hotel.

Known for his generosity, Pacquiao also did the same when Hidilyn Diaz bagged the silver medal in the 2016 Rio De Janeiro Olympics, and later, the country’s first ever Olympic gold during the 2020 Tokyo Games.

But it has become a practice for Pacquiao not to reveal the amount of cash he gave to the Filipina weightlifter.

The financial pledge was just the latest to be bestowed on the 24-year-old gymnast as cash rewards began to pour in following his historic double gold medal feat in Paris.

Biggest so far Yulo will be receiving is the P20 million windfall from the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) as per Republic Act 10699 granting P10 million to athlete who will win an Olympic gold medal.

The House of Representative is also rewarding him with P6 million, the country’s leading sports entertainment in the country ArenaPlus P5 million, Bounty Group, makers of Chooks To Go, P3 million, P3 million from private property firm Megaworld, which also gives Yulo a three-bedroom, fully furnished condominium unit worth P32 million, and P2 million additional from the Manila City government as the gymnast is a native of Malate, Manila.
