LeBron James stunned the basketball world in 2014 when he announced he was leaving the Miami Heat, where he won two championships, to return to the Cleveland Cavaliers, reigniting the hopes of a city eager for its first NBA title.

James’ decision marked a pivotal moment in his career, as he sought to bring an NBA title to the Cavaliers and fulfill a promise to the city of Cleveland. He followed through on that promise in 2016, besting the Golden State Warriors in seven games.

“I came back for a reason. I came back to bring a championship to our city,” James said in 2016. “I knew what I was capable of doing. I knew what I learned in the last couple of years that I was gone, and when I came back, I knew I had the right ingredients and the right blueprint to help this franchise get back to a place that we’ve never been. That’s what it was all about.”

It was a tremendous story, but one person who wasn’t a huge fan of James’ move back to the Cavaliers was his wife, Savannah. She had started to build a life in Miami and wasn’t excited to go back.

“And then LeBron said I’m taking my talents back to Cleveland, ‘I’m like what, no, I don’t want to go back,'” Savannah James said on the latest edition of her podcast Everybody’s Crazy.

It all ended up working on for the James family, who now reside in Los Angeles. They are gearing up for Bronny James’ first season alongside his father in a Lakers uniform.
