Steph Curry Reconnects with LeBron James After Their 'Battles'

The Warriors’ star talks about how his relationship with his “archrival” improved during the Olympic Games in Paris

Stephen Curry and LeBron James were the two great stars of Team USA at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. The duo, whose rivalry had been the NBA’s image during the second half of the 2010s and early 2020s, was key to the US team winning the gold medal.

It was striking to see Curry and LeBron playing for the same team, and the confidence they showed in each other. Stephen Curry himself, in recent statements reported by HoopsHype, talks about how the relationship between the two basketball legends improved.

“I had to get used to liking him after all our battles,” Curry began. “We were winning, and I was doing my part, setting screens, playing hard, but I wasn’t making shots. I knew at some point I had to score because that’s why I’m here. After the game against Puerto Rico, I was interviewed and asked: ‘What’s going on with your shot? Are you worried?’ I said, ‘No, we’re winning, and I know a hot streak is coming.’ As soon as I said that, LeBron came up behind me and said, ‘Yes, you are.’ That gave me a lot of confidence. It caught me off guard for what you already know. But it was a confidence boost, and it came at the right moment.”
