MANILA — Thirty-nine people have reportedly died due to the combined effects of the habagat, and typhoons Carina and Butchoy, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) reported Tuesday.

The NDRRMC said 14 deaths have been validated while the other 25 were up for verification.

The death toll was at 36 on Monday.

More than 1.3 million families or 4.8 million persons in 17 regions were affected by the series of weather disturbances.

Meanwhile, 108,083 individuals remain in 557 evacuation centers, more than half in Central Luzon and Metro Manila

The government has so far provided P321.5 million worth of assistance to almost 1 million families affected.
