The late Kobe Bryant and star player LeBron James are two iconic names in the history of the Los Angeles Lakers franchise and the NBA. Both legends are widely regarded as two of the best players in NBA history. Many NBA analysts often include James and Bryant’s names in debates about the greatest players of all time.

Former NBA player Dwyane Wade recently discussed key factors that make King James different from Kobe Bryant in achieving greatness during an appearance on the 7 PM in Brooklyn podcast. You can hear the conversation at 2:11 remark.

“They were similar because they both pursued greatness in a way we’ve never seen before. They had certain characteristics that made them alike in their chase for greatness, such as the sacrifices they had to make. They are similar in those fundamental aspects, but they are total opposites when it comes to their actual abilities to achieve greatness. It’s not even the same conversation because they’re so different, so polar opposite.”

Wade Dives Into The Distinct Working Styles Of Bryant And James

Bryant, also known as Mamba, played 20 years of his career with the Lakers. He accomplished numerous achievements, including five NBA championships, 18-time All-Star, and the 2008 NBA Most Valuable Player award.

On the other hand, James is currently playing for the Lakers after signing a new contract. He has achieved numerous feats throughout his career, including an all-time scoring record, four NBA championships, four Most Valuable Player (MVP) Awards, four Finals MVP Awards, and three All-Star Game MVP Awards. Wade further continued by mentioning the differences in the working styles of Bryant and James.

“But the pillars they needed to chase the GOAT conversation required the same mentality; it was just portrayed differently. Kobe has this mystique about him that he worked so hard all the time. LeBron doesn’t have that same image, but have you ever seen LeBron’s work? I’ve never seen anyone work like him, either. It’s just different how they work.” Wade added.

Despite the numerous debates that highlighted the differences between the two legendary players, James and Bryant were very close friends. After the tragic helicopter accident in which Bryant died along with his daughter, James was visibly emotional during his speech for Kobe.
