Michael Jordan vs Klay Thompson was not your usual stat comparison to determine who scores the best. But rather an unusual challenge posed by an ex-NBA star against His Airness’ defensive capabilities. However, KT is not concerned about the debate at all. He rather seems to be taking pleasure in revisiting his memories with the Chicago Bulls legend.

Thompson recently shared a photo in his IG story featuring him in his teenage or his early 20s at best with Michael Jordan himself. The two can be seen crossing palms with each other, a gesture that signifies a bond. Now, many of you might not know that KT’s first interaction with MJ goes back to even the earlier days of his life. Back when he had not even landed in high school.

The 4x NBA champ shared the story in a video shared by the NBA’s official YouTube channel. Though he didn’t remember many details from the night, he did remember it was back in 1997 or 1998.“I remember my dad taking us to the back, waiting in the tunnel. We were just waiting. We wanted to see Scotty and Michael so bad. And I don’t think I said a word. But just the fact I was able to be there and meet the legend himself was so motivating for me,” KT said.
He further stated he’ll cherish the memory forever. But with such rich moments from the past, where did the MJ vs KT debate come into existence? Well, it was ex-NBA star Gilbert Arenas who pitted the two stars in a fantasy face-off. “There is no way he [Michael Jordan] in hell would have been able to guard a Klay Thompson at the 2,” Gil said. The reasoning behind the argument, you ask?

Just the fact that the Dallas Mavericks star is an off-ball shooter. And he is quite proficient at doing what he does. Constantly moving, taking apt advantage of screens set by his teammates, guarding the 4x NBA champ becomes a chore. However, the reverse of this fantasy face-off has also been assumed, and in the scenario, Mike emerged superior.

Tracy McGrady claims Klay Thompson is not guarding Michael Jordan
Ever wondered how a showdown between MJ’s Bulls and Steph Curry’s 2017 Warriors might play out? T-Mac already came up with an answer in his IG video posted in March this year. The ex-NBA star McGrady confidently picked the Bulls over the Warriors. And his reasoning is all about the matchups.

For those of you who think Golden State’s modern dominance would’ve been too much for the Bulls to handle, McGrady had something to say — “We’re not done with the 90s!” He’s all about the Jordan era, and when you break it down, it’s hard not to see why. According to T-Mac, one of the key issues for the Warriors would be figuring out how to guard Mike.
He isn’t convinced Thompson or Curry could handle it. Confidently stating, “Klay Thompson is not guarding MJ.” And then there’s the Kevin Durant factor. McGrady liked Scottie Pippen’s chances of making every night tough for KD. He predicted the Bulls would win the series in six games. As for the MJ vs KT debate, given Michael Jordan’s defensive proficiency and capabilities that by far surpass Thompson’s, the chances that His Airness will be able to guard the 4x NBA champ are higher than vice versa.
