The “The Voice Kids Philippines” season 1 winner took to Instagram Stories to react to the heartbreaking news.
Lyca shared an art card featuring the late singer and penned a short tribute to the vocalist. Lyca dubbed Mercy as one of her idols and inspirations when it comes to singing.
“Isa sa mga iniidolo ko at inspirasyon ko sa pag-awit,” Lyca shared in the on-screen caption.
She went on to pen a short yet earnest message to the deceased musician. “Rest in peace, Ateee.”

Mercy Sunot was one of the main vocalists of the Pinoy legendary rock band, Aegis. She was known for her vocal power and for singing powerful songs. Aegis is very popular for their songs “Halik,” “Basang-Basa Sa Ulan,” “Luha,” “Sinta,” and many more. The band was able to maintain their popularity in more than two decades in the industry with their songs becoming part of the lives of many generations of Pinoy music.
The sudden demise of the powerful voice behind the legendary Pinoy rock band Aegis has surprised many. Among the first to break the sad news on social media was Frankie Ballesteros, one of the band’s key crew members. Juliet Sunot, the sister of Mercy, also changed her profile photo into one that signifies losing a loved one. It can be recalled that Mercy was able to provide an update about her condition a couple of days ago.
It can be recalled that it was only last Saturday that Mercy herself gave an update about her condition. In a TikTok video, she tearfully recounted the trial she was going through. She also gave details about the operation she recently underwent and how she’s feeling at the time.
