Carlos Yulo’s mom always support his son in spite of family feud

When thanking the people who helped him on the road to his two Olympic gold medals, Carlos Yulo has always mentioned his father, Mark Andrew, among them.

But while the elder Yulo has offered his son his congratulations, he also hinted at the problems within the family that he was hoping would be fixed.

Noticeably absent from Yulo’s shout-outs is his mother, Angelica, who remained mum about her son in the immediate aftermath of his historic Olympic feat of winning gold in the men’s floor exercise and men’s vault events of the 2024 Paris Olympics.

But Yulo’s mother has now broken her silence about the rift between her and the gymnast, which has drawn some amount of attention online.

She mentioned that accusations about mismanagement of finances had hurt her and claimed that she had evidence to prove them false.

“‘Yung tungkol doon sa pera na ninakaw ko, nilustay, winaldas sa luho ko…sinabi ko sa kanila na walang halong katotohanan lahat,” Angelica said in a report by Sandra Aguinaldo on 24 Oras.

“So kung sa perception ni Caloy meron, sabi ko sa kanya willing akong maglabas ng evidences, ng mga deposit slips na meron ako ngayon.”

[About the money that I stole, squandered, wasted on luxuries… I told them there was no truth to them… So if in Caloy’s perception, there is, I told him I was willing to show evidence, I have deposit slips that I can show.]

Angelica said that the family’s lifestyle had not changed even after Carlos’ success.

“Masama yung loob ko, nando’n ‘yung pain na sabihan ka ng anak mo ng magnanakaw,” she added.

“Gusto kong sabihin na asan ‘yung ninakaw? Gano’n pa rin naman kami, nung di pa siya nagkakapera, nung nagkapera siya walang nagbago sa lifestyle namin.”

[It hurt me, it is painful for your child to call you a thief. I want to say, show me what was stolen?  We are still the same, from when he didn’t have money, to when he had money, there was no change in our lifestyle.]

But even through this, she remains happy for her son after what he had achieved in Paris.

“Siyempre pangarap niya yan e. Sabi ko nga nung naguusap kami, kung manalo siya good for him. Nag-pay off lahat ng sacrifices niya.”

[Of course, that is his dream. I told him when we spoke, if he wins, good for him. All off his sacrifices would have paid off.]

She added, however, that she does not want to make the move to reconcile with her son so she would not be accused of being after money just because he won.

GMA Integrated News is reaching out to Carlos for comment regarding his mother’s statements.
