Karylle says the kiss with Vice did not make her husband Yael Yuzon jealous

Karylle on kissing Vice Ganda, noontime show rivalry, starting a family

MANILA, Philippines – Karylle opens up about the ongoing feud between It’s Showtime and Eat Bulaga, her controversial kiss with Vice Ganda and starting a family with husband Yael Yuzon.

In an interview with reporters at the Promil iShine Talent Camp season 4 Wednesday, September 30, where she was announced as a celebrity mentor alongside Xian, Karylle shared that the entire cast and crew of It’s Showtime were happy to have pulled over 6.5 million tweets for its Kapamilya Day anniversary celebration.

Sobrang saya! Especially ‘yung nakalights out tapos lahat naka-cellphone, sumasayaw. Nakakatuwa,” she said. (It was really great. We saw all the pictures. All together, it was cute, it was like a big family album, right? Up to now, when I see our pictures, it brings happiness. Especially the highlights and the ones where everyone had their cellphones, dancing. It was really nice.)

Karylle added that fans should also look forward to her and Jhong Hilario’s performance in Magpasikat

Very excited ako. Alam ko kasi na maganda yung tandem namin, maganda talaga ‘to. May possibility na manalo talaga kami,” she said.  (I am very excited. I really know our tandem is great. We have the possibility of winning it.)

Contrary to earlier reports, Karylle explained that she was not at all surprised by the kiss. The host revealed that she and Vice have talked about doing something special to make the Vicerylle fans happy.

It’s always like that. We talk about it naman. Lambingan ‘yun eh,” she said.  (I didn’t know if he will be able to do it or not. It’s always like that. We talk about it. It was just a tender moment.)

Madalas kasi kaming loveteam. Sa Sine Mo ‘To, talaga nagsimula ‘yun. Tuksuhan. (We were always paired up. In Sine Mo ‘To, that’s where it all started. The teasing. And then when we had the Lenten special, Vice and I teamed up. The Vicerylles were happy.)

Although they have talked about it, Karylle explained that she did not think that Vice would go for it. The host added that it was not such a big deal given that they are both actors.

“I don’t like be too predictable. I allow myself space to be surprised. Ayoko nung masyadong naka-plan kasi gusto ko ‘yung natural na nagugulat na reaction para mas totoo,” she said. (I don’t like that it was planned, because I want it to be natural and see the real reaction.)

Karylle also shared that Yael was not at all offended by the segment. She explained that her husband understood that it was part of her job as an actress.

“I like that Yael can express himself without anyone editing him, para maintindihan ng mga tao (so people understand) na he’s very open minded. I’m happy na hindi siya naging tahimik (that he was not quiet), na he was able to speak his mind,” she said.

Syempre isa s’yang rakista, he has his own notions of how he thinks, how he feels. (He never said he was not for it. He’s always misinterpreted, misunderstood by others. Of course because he’s a rock star, he has his notions of how he thinks, how he feels. I always ‘I’m glad I’m the actor. Because if were different, I might not take it well and get jealous.)

When asked if they were ready to start a family soon, Karylle said that they are praying and preparing for it.

“In God’s perfect time, dadating din ‘yun (it will come). We’re trying to be as healthy as can be. We’re preparing, like we do our own chores [because] it’s just the two of us at home. Slowly becoming a family talaga, preparing our little nest for the baby.”

On rivalry with Eat Bulaga

In spite of the strong competition between It’s Showtime and Eat Bulaga, Karylle said the rivalry resulted in something positive.

She said that both shows were kept on their feet, thinking of creative ways to make their fans happy. Karylle added that after introducing new segments, they were able to pull in more viewers than before.PASTILLAS GIRL. Photo by Manman Dejeto/Rappler

“I was reviewing the numbers and we were actually doing better than we’ve ever been doing. Kumbaga dumadami talaga nanoood (I other words there are many watching),” she said.

The host, however, lamented how fans of the noontime shows kept on criticizing one another on social media sites.

I find that it’s a bit sad that there’s actually a word na basher and hater. I think it takes too much energy. I just wish the climate of the country will be happy. In anything kasi, ‘di ba may traffic or whatever, parang we’re always complaining. We should be more proactive in finding the solutions,” she said.

“I think complaints, hating and bashing should be the least of our concerns kasi it takes too much of our day. And parang nagtu-tumble down ‘yan sa lahat ng ginagawa mo sa buhay.”
