Multiple-time former ONE lightweight MMA world champion ‘Landslide’ Eduard Folayang of the Philippines is at the tail end of a long and glorious mixed martial arts career.

And as such, the 40-year-old Filipino combat sports veteran is only interested in the fights that will further his legendary status.

Folayang recently talked about a potential showdown with Filipino icon and equal legend ‘Pacman’ Manny Pacquiao.

In an interview with Tiebreaker Times, Folayang discussed his willingness to face the former eight-division boxing world champion.

‘Landslide’ said:

“When you talk about a Filipino athlete, his name is immediately the first one that comes to mind. Whether it’s a Filipino or an individual from another country, Manny Pacquiao is always the topic of conversation. He is what we can call the gold standard of sports here in the Philippines. If given the opportunity, why would I refuse? That would be an honor.”

Folayang says it would be an honor to face a fighter who has done so much for the Philippines. He continued:

“I think it would be more interesting and intriguing, at the same time, because you have two Filipino icons in the same ring. At the end of the day, that’s one of the goals of combat sports — to bring people together and provide them with the best possible matchups.”

‘Landslide’ Eduard Folayang wants a spot on ONE Championship’s upcoming U.S. cards

As for the former lightweight MMA king, ‘Landslide’ Eduard Folayang still believes he has one last run in him in his mixed martial arts career.

The 40-year-old eyes a spot on one of ONE Championship’s upcoming U.S. cards later this year in Denver and Atlanta.

‘Landslide’ concluded:

“My priority is still MMA. Hopefully, I can compete again, especially since ONE Championship has two events in America this year. I’m hoping to be included on either fight card.”
