Kathryn Bernardo receives Snow Leopard Rising Star Award at Asian World Film Festival in LA

CULVER CITY — Kathryn Bernardo has now snagged her first award from a Hollywood-based film festival.

The star of the record-setting “Hello, Love, Again” took home the Snow Leopard Rising Star Award at the 10th Asian World Film Festival.

She was joined by her Mother Min, some of her co-stars, several ABS-CBN Films bosses at the Thursday night gala event.

“I’m really really happy. Of course special night na rin because I’ll be receiving an award. So I’m just very happy to be here. I’m here representing my home network and, of course, my fellow Filipinos,” Bernardo said.

During the ceremony, a montage of Bernardo’s films and television shows played on screen as she was presented the award by award-winning Vietnamese actress Kieu Chinn.

Bernardo spoke about her career during her acceptant speech.

“It feels so surreal to be standing here tonight receiving this award. Thank you so much to the Asian World Film Festival board of directors for this incredible honor, not only for recognizing my body of work but for celebrating all the stories that we as Asian artists continue to share for the world,” she said.

“I started at the age of 6 and over the years I’ve been fortunate to bring a variety of characters to life. Each one gave me something new not just as an actor but as a person. 22 years I am still here pursuing my first love and my passion which is acting. Yes I know it’s a tough job but moments like tonight make it all worth it. It is such an honor being here representing my fellow Filipinos and my home network ABS-CBN,” she added.

Bernardo along with co-star Alden Richards are continuing the North American tour for “Hello, Love, Again,” which is playing in some 250 North American theaters.

The movie, a joint production with ABS-CBN Films and GMA Pictures closed out this year’s Asian World Film Festival on Wednesday night.

Meanwhile, ABS-CBN Films head Kriz Gazmen shared on social media, photos and clips of Bernardo at the event, which recognized her career as an actress.
