Amid Breakup Rumors, Kim Chiu Gives Love Advice To A Contestant: ‘Lower your expectations’

Kim Chiu just gave relationship advice to a contestant on It’s Showtime, amid rumors that she and actor Xian Lim have broken up.

While hosting the singing talent portion Tawag Ng Tanghalan, hosts Amy Perez and Vhong Navarro reacted to a contestant’s story about what appears to be a failed romance, AKA a “situationship”.

Amy proceeded to encourage the contestant to destroy what his ex had given to him, as the relationship had already fizzled out.

At one point, Amy said she had crushed what her ex had given her, and then she asked what Kim would do whenever she’s happy and on holiday.

Kim: “‘Pag masaya ‘ko? Siyempre masaya, happy, tatawa.”

Amy: “‘Pag gusto mo mag-bakasyon, anong ginagawa mo? Anong nararamdaman mo?

Kim: “Sa’n papunta ‘to, Tiyang? Siyempre, ‘pag bakasyon, rest, R&R.”

Amy: “Good. Happy for you.”

Amy and Vhong went on to share how they feel it’s so wrong for an ex to return gifts, until Kim said that she’s okay and not going through anything. Amy, Vhong, and Kim stood on side of the stage to declare that they’re all in happy relationships.

That’s when Kim gave the contestant some love advice.

Kim: “Wil, first time mo bang magkaro’n ng situationship?”

Contestant: “Opo, siguro.”

Kim: “Lower your expectations. Because if you expect too much [from] that person, at the end of the day, ikaw pa rin ang masasaktan.”

For a while now, netizens have been speculating that Kim and Xian may be going through a rough patch after Vice Ganda asked Kim who makes her happy lately. Kim said it was her family. Later on, Vice asked her what her day would be incomplete without, and she said it was talking to Xian.

During an interview, Kim was also directly asked if she and Xian had gone their separate ways, which the actress vehemently denied. Kim said she and Xian are okay.

In a lengthy IG post, Xian also cautioned netizens from choosing to believe in “hearsay.”

“I would like to ask everyone to be mindful of what you chose [sic] to believe in deceiving headlines and other information used to just pretend to know the whole story for personal gain and traction,” Xian wrote.

It’s not clear if there’s trouble in paradise for the lovers, but we really hope they’re doing okay! They’ve been together for 12 years.
