It’s indeed rare for us to see celebrities coming from one family to take part in the same show. And among them are Coco Martin and his younger brothers Ryan and Ronwaldo, who all appear in the well-loved primetime series FPJ’s Batang Quiapo.

While Ronwaldo’s character Santino is similar to the role that he plays in real life as the younger brother of Coco, who portrays the lead character Tanggol, Ryan takes on the role of Rodolfo “Dolfo” Agustin, one of the dependable and trustworthy barkadas of Tanggol.

In his exclusive interview with ABS-CBN broadcast journalist Bernadette Sembrano in one of her vlogs, Ryan disclosed that he used to only accompany his Kuya Coco in his tapings and shootings for eight years. He then tried to do business, until Coco offered him to be part of the series.

Like his colleagues, what Ryan is really after in his stint in this primetime series is work and not popularity. They may be related by blood to Coco, who’s also one of their directors, but he and Ronwaldo refuse to use their connection with him or take advantage of it. He might not have undergone acting workshops and just went straight to taping like everyone in the cast, but he has not experienced getting reprimanded yet by his Kuya Coco as of that interview, which meant that his doing a great job in the role bestowed to him.

He went on to add that so far, he’s been enjoying his first foray into acting as he feels the support and camaraderie among his colleagues.

While this is Ryan’s acting debut, it’s already Ronwaldo’s second teleserye appearance. His first was in FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano, wherein he was cast as Roldan/Gagamba, one of the members of Pulang Araw. Prior to these TV projects, he already appeared in a slew of independent films, earning him the moniker “New Indie Prince.”

Ronwaldo already notched his first acting award as Best Actor in the Harlem International Film Festival in New York City, as well as nominations in the same category from the 2016 Gawad Urian, 1st Eddy Awards, and Hanoi International Film Festival for his exemplary performance in the critically-acclaimed movie ”Pamilya Ordinaryo.”

In his past interviews, Ronwaldo said that he doesn’t want to be merely known as Coco’s younger brother as he aspires to make a name for himself in showbiz. He proudly admitted idolizing his kuya, who willingly gives him advice on career, love, and taking care of his finances.
