Remember when Julia Montes last appeared in a teleserye?
It was in October 2018 when ABS-CBN aired the last episode of her most recent teleserye, Asintado.
In this series, which aired its pilot episode in January 2018, Julia worked with Shaina Magdayao, Aljur Abrenica, and Paulo Avelino.
In Asintado, Julia played Ana Dimasalang, a vengeful woman who experienced injustice at the hands of Salvador del Mundo (Nonie Buencamino). She went on a quest to find her missing sister, Katrina.
Ana then crossed paths with Salvador’s son, Gael (Paulo Avelino), and her childhood friend, Samantha (Shaina Magdayao).
Ana and Gael fell in love, causing rivalry between Ana and Samantha. They were unaware that Samantha is actually Ana’s missing sister.
Halfway through the Kapamilya series, Ana and Gael got married.
Salvador plotted to kill the pregnant Ana, but instead, it was Gael who was murdered.
Ana later gave birth to a baby boy, who was kidnapped by Salvador to be used as an instrument to kill Ana.
However, Ana succeeded in taking down Salvador, and she was able to retrieve her son.
Asintado aired for 10 months, and ended its run on October 5, 2018.
JULIA PLAYING MOTHER ROLES
Asintado is the fourth teleserye where Julia agreed to do a mother role in a TV series.
The first time was in the prime-time series Walang Hanggan, aired in 2012.
At 17, Julia was paired with the then-30-year-old Coco Martin. She also played a married woman to the then-24-year-old Paulo Avelino.
In the middle of the series, Julia’s character Katerina got pregnant and gave birth. It was her first time to portray a mother in a drama series.
In 2014, Julia took on her second mother role in the teleserye Ikaw Lamang, where she had a son with the character of Coco Martin.
In 2015, Julia starred in the afternoon series Doble Kara, where she played the twins Kara and Sara. In April 2016, the series entered its second chapter, showing Kara and Sara’s lives eight years later.
By that time, Kara and Sara had their own daughters, with Sam Milby and Edgar Allan Guzman playing the fathers. Julia was then 21.
The series had a successful run of one year and six months, allowing Julia to get the title of ABS-CBN’s Daytime Drama Queen.
After Doble Kara, Julia’s next teleserye was Asintado. However, she only played a mother in the last few months of the series.
JULIA MONTES: A MOTHER IN REAL LIFE?
