MANILA — (UPDATED) Julia Montes is mothering!
Actress Julia Montes is coming back to primetime television via the upcoming series “Saving Grace,” the Philippines adaptation of the Japanese hit drama series “Mother.”
This was confirmed by ABS-CBN’s Dreamscape Entertainment on social media on Monday, July 15.
The series is presented by ABS-CBN Studios and Nippon TV, Japan’s leading entertainment powerhouse.
“Congratulations to ABS-CBN on acquiring our script format ‘Mother.’ We truly believe in ABS-CBN’s production capability and that the Filipino audience will love the show,” Sally Yamamoto from Nippon TV said.
“‘Mother’ is truly a beautiful story and I am sure you are all going to love it. So best wishes to the cast and crew,” Yuki Akehi from Nippon TV added.
Cory Vidanes, chief operating officer of ABS-CBN, also expressed excitement over the company’s latest collaboration.
“This is our very first adaptation of a Nippon TV series and we are very grateful to Nippon TV for entrusting us with the rights for the Filipino version. It’s a beautiful story that really centers around the importance of family and motherhood and promises to be a very emotionally engaging and heartwarming series that will deeply resonate with the Filipino audience and the non-Filipino audiences worldwide,” Vidanes said.
“Mother” achieved global success as Asia’s most exported scripted format with adaptations in Turkey, South Korea, Ukraine, Thailand, China, France, Spain, Mongalia and Saudi Arabia.
Meanwhile, Montes in a post on Facebook, extended her gratitude to her Dreamscape family for trusting her with the new project. She also dedicated “Saving Grace” to the late Dreamscape Entertainment head Deo Endrinal.
“I am beyond excited for this project. Salamat po sa patuloy ninyong pagsuporta! Thank you always trusting me my Dreamscape Entertainment family. Sir Deo, this is for you, Montes wrote.
Montes was last seen on TV in “FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano” with real-life boyfriend Coco Martin.
Last year, she starred in the movie “Five Breakups and a Romance.”
