Kapamilya Spotlight: Daniel Padilla’s remarkable journey in becoming the “Supreme Idol of This Generation”

Daniel Padilla may be one of the nation’s greatest heartthrobs, but his success isn’t just because of his charm and good looks. Even with just over a decade of showbiz experience under his belt, he has proven to be a skilled actor worthy of the title “Supreme Idol of this Generation.”

Entering the industry as a teen actor, he definitely had to stand out among a crowd, especially since he starred alongside actors and actresses that began their careers way earlier than him. In “Growing Up,” his first major teleserye role in 2011, he worked alongside the likes of Julia Montes, Neil Coleta, Kiray Celis, and Kathryn Bernardo.

Regardless of the pressure, Daniel brought out an endearing quality to the rebellious Patrick in the teen drama series, and viewers were immediately hooked on his character. As the story progressed and revealed that Patrick has something special with Kathryn’s character Ella, Daniel and Kathryn’s on-screen chemistry brought forth a growing fanbase, which we now know as KathNiel.

The success of their pairing in “Growing Up” spurred a buzz for Daniel. It was obvious he had a knack for making the ladies’ hearts skip a beat so his succeeding roles put him in front as the leading man.

In the 2012 drama “Princess and I,” he shared the spotlight with Enrique Gil and Khalil Ramos as Kathryn Bernardo’s love interests. But Daniel still made his mark with his portrayal given that several fans rooted for his character, the arrogant but determined Gino, to win Mikay’s heart.

His next project the following year, “Got To Believe,”challenged him further. Aside from this being a much-awaited KathNiel series, the show was also directed by the esteemed Cathy Garcia-Molina. Daniel began to grow further in dramatic roles, such as that of the complicated and troubled Joaquin in Got To Believe.”

As Daniel’s popularity grew in show business, so did the trust of show producers in him as an actor. He was offered role after role, with projects getting bigger than the last. He was even offered a guest role on the widely raved afternoon drama “Be Careful With My Heart.” The lead role of Angelo in the 2015 remake of “Pangako Sa ‘Yo” and the major cast role of Tristan in the horror-fantasy drama La Luna Sangre were also entrusted to him.

In “2 Good 2 Be True,” Daniel gives us a different version of him that shows off his experience over the years.
