Meet Coco Martin’s handsome brother

Hailed as the new ‘Indie Prince’, Coco Martin’s younger half-brother Ronwaldo ‘Ron’ Martin continues to make waves in the local entertainment scene from starring in numerous independent films to his first television appearance as Roldan/Gagamba on the top-rating FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano.

Just like his older brother, the 20-year-old young actor’s prowess in acting and charm is noticed when he starred in various indie movies such as Brillante Mendoza’s Captive, Kip Oebanda’s Tumbang Preso, Joselito Altarejos’ Kasal, Topel Lee’s Baklad, Luisito Ignacio’s Laut, Derick Cabrido’s Tuos, and Arturo Boy San Agustin and Real Florido’s Kabisera.

However, he is most well-known in headlining Ari: My Life with A King helmed by Carlo Enciso Catu, which tells the story of young man’s discovery of the Kapampangan dialect through a local poet, and Pamilya Ordinaryo, which chronicles the plight of two young couples dwelling in the streets and their search for their abducted baby.

Ron already notched his first acting award as a Best Actor in the Harlem International Film Festival in New York City and nominations in the same category in 2016 Gawad Urian1st Eddy Awards, and Hanoi International Film Festival for his exemplary performance in Pamilya Ordinaryo. He is set to star in two more indies this year with Bhoy Intsik, one of the five finalists in the Sinag Maynila Film Festival 2017 and Tahanang Munti directed by seasoned director Jun Posadas.

We currently see him on FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano as one of the members of the terrorist group Pulang Araw spearheaded by the character of the legendary action star Lito Lapid, whom the reprising SPO2 Ricardo ‘Cardo’ Dalisay (Coco Martin) and his troops is hounding.

In his interviews, Ron said that he doesn’t want to be merely known as Coco’s younger brother and aspires to make a name for himself in the showbiz industry. He proudly admitted too that he looks up to his kuya so much and the latter willingly gives him advice on career, love, and taking care of his finances. Aside from Coco, Ron also idolizes action star Robin Padilla for his tough nature and brilliance in his portrayals.

He used to utilize his real name Ron Nancieno in his former projects as a newbie, but well-renowned director and mentor Brillante Mendoza abbreviated it to Ron Cieno. Coco, or Rodel Luis Cortez Nacianceno in real life, is the eldest while Ron is the fourth and youngest boy among five siblings.

Is Ron your new boy crush? Sorry, but he already has a girlfriend and they’re relationship is going strong for five years now.

Will there be a chance that the roles of the two Martins would be allies soon? Let’s all find out on FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano, weeknights in Primetime Bida after TV Patrol.
