Senator Lito Lapid’s epic dream of a Filipino “Expendables” movie could finally be happening—without Bong Revilla and Jinggoy Estrada.

Instead, Lapid is bringing in the big guns: Coco Martin of FPJ’s Batang Quiapo, Dingdong Dantes from ABS-CBN’s Rewind, and Senator Robin Padilla.

Originally, Lapid had hoped to feature Revilla and Estrada—both prominent movie stars like himself—but they opted out, reportedly due to reluctance to share or yield the top billing to Lapid.

Despite this setback, Lapid remains undeterred as he rounded up round up some of the most exciting stars in Philippine cinema in a casting shake-up that could turn out to be exactly what this high-octane film needs,

Lapid has long admired the Expendables franchise, which began with the 2010 film directed and led by Sylvester Stallone and featured an ensemble cast of action stars Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Randy Couture, Terry Crews, Steve Austin, Mickey Rourke, and Bruce Willis.

The franchise is known for bringing together big-name action stars from various eras and has expanded into a series of four films.

Lapid’s dream project is driven by a noble cause. He envisions himself and his co-stars working on the film pro bono, with all proceeds dedicated to supporting individuals within the movie industry.
