Alden Richards Admits He Once Let Fame Get To His Head: ‘I would be a hypocrite if I said no’
There’s no doubt about it: Alden Richards is a household name, what with his acting talent and good looks. He’s definitely come a long way from his Tween Hearts and Carmela days and is today one of the country’s most sought-after leading men.
But with anyone in show business, success can also affect one’s personality. During an interview with Boy Abunda, Alden revealed how his success once bloated his ego.
“Fame can be toxic. Fame can overwhelm. May mga panahon ba in your life as an actor, as a superstar, number one: na yumabang ka?” asked Boy. “Hindi ka yumabang?”
“I would be a hypocrite, Tito Boy, if I’ve said, ‘No,'” Alden replied, elaborating on his answer. “At one point, of course, lahat po tayo nae-experience ‘yan. Siguro po during the first part of my career…”
Alden also admitted how he realized that fame had gotten to his head when the people closest to him started noticing he had changed.
“Parang these people, sila yung huli dapat magrereklamo sa ‘yo. And then ‘yon, parang it hit me na baka nga gano’n na,” Alden confessed. He also confirmed that thankfully, he has many friends who can tell him to his face that he’s getting arrogant already.
Prior to his massive popularity on Eat Bulaga as Maine Mendoza‘s love team partner, Alden worked gigs as a model and first appeared in an afternoon soap. This 2023, he’s set to star in the film Five Break-Ups and A Romance with Julia Montes.
