The One Dance rapper, 37, has been in the headlines after a shooting occurred near his Toronto mansion on Tuesday.

His security guard was rushed to hospital following the incident, while the area around his property was reportedly cordoned off.

An anchorman began an introduction into a segment on the shooting on ABC7NY Eyewitness News on Tuesday afternoon, when he made an awkward blunder.

‘Lots of questions tonight about a security guard who was shot outside the mansion of the raper… rapper, I should say, Drake in Toronto,’ he began, before his co-host delved into Drake’s ongoing, highly-publicized feud with Kendrick Lamar.

Although he very quickly corrected himself, viewers picked up on the mistake – which can still be heard in the official ABC7NY clip on YouTube.

Notjamesearl was left doing a double-take over the mix-up, penning: ‘I had to pause rewind. Hollup what he say [sic].’

As Alephmale3171 added: ‘You can hear someone in the studio saying “Oh my goooodddd….” really lowly right after he says it [sic].’

The slip-up occurred after it was revealed that a security guard had been rushed to hospital with serious injuries, following a shooting near Drake’s home.

Officers were called out to the Bridle Path area of Toronto in the early hours of yesterday morning.

A spokesperson reportedly told CityNews that the star – real name Aubrey Graham – did not sustain injuries, and was not believed to have been home at the time.

The Toronto Sun reports that the unnamed man was a member of Drake’s security team, and was ‘transported to hospital with serious injuries’, while the suspect ‘fled in a vehicle’.

He was allegedly rushed to Sunnybrook Hospital for treatment and underwent emergency surgery, after sustaining an injury to his upper chest.

Appearing at a press conference from the scene hours later, Toronto Police Inspector Paul Krawczyk told reporters: ‘This morning at about 2am, police were called to a shooting at the residence behind me here.

‘When officers arrived, they located a male who was suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. That male was taken to hospital in serious condition.

‘That person was working, apparently, as a security guard at the residence. He was standing outside of the gates, in front of the residence, when the shooting occurred.

Drake
‘We have individuals who obviously performed the shooting, who were seen in a vehicle. I do not have a description of the vehicle or the suspects at this time. Again, it’s very early on in the investigation.’
