Along with his Olympic win, Carlos Yulo has also been making headlines for the rift between him and his mother. Today, he made an explosive statement regarding the issues—and he did not hold back.
The double gold medalist posted a seven-minute TikTok video shedding light on the accusations made by his mother, Angelica Yulo. Together with him in the video is his longtime girlfriend Chloe San Jose.
The amount mentioned was allegedly “hidden” from Carlos. This seemed to be the start of their rift, leading to Carlos putting boundaries between him and his mother. This is what the athlete first addressed in his video, arguing that it’s not about the amount of money involved, but rather it is about the fact that the withdrawal of the cash incentive from his bank was not disclosed to him by his own mother.
Carlos also recalled the time when his bank account was still handled by his mother. He narrated that sometimes Chloe would often support him financially as his incentives were with his mother.
Carlos also noted that he holds all the bank statements that can serve as proof of his mother’s cash withdrawals from his bank account.
Carlos Yulo defends Chloe San Jose from his mother
In his seven-minute TikTok video, Carlos did not miss the chance to defend his girlfriend and to reveal matters that the public has no knowledge of just yet. He admitted that there was already some bad blood between him and his mother because he fought for his relationship with Chloe, which his mother never approved of.

For Carlos, his mother’s prejudice against Chloe lacks the understanding that his girlfriend’s way of dressing and living is because of her Australian upbringing. ICYDK, Chloe lived most of her life in Australia.
Carlos also touched on the issue that Chloe allegedly lives off of the athlete’s money. He defended her by saying that Chloe has always been working hard for herself.
Carlos and Chloe have been dating for four years now. They started their relationship at the height of the pandemic and endured a long-distance relationship since Chloe has always been based in Australia and Carlos has been training in different countries. Nonetheless, Chloe has always been supportive of Carlos, flying to wherever he competes.

In the video, the two explained and also showed some screenshots of conversations from years ago. They show how the couple had done their part in reaching out and trying to explain their relationship to Carlos’ mother. But the rift did not end there.
By the end of the video, Carlos calls on his mom to put an end to the controversies surrounding their family and instead focus on the good things that are worth celebrating at the moment. Even if the pain of seeing his mom turn against him during his competitions still stings for Carlos, he declares that he has forgiven his mother.
After everything, Carlos made sure to send words of forgiveness and healing to his mom. “Mag-heal kayo, mag-move on at napatawad ko na kayo long time ago.
