Exploding clip: Marian Rivera delighted fans with the ‘Sabay Sabay Tayo’ dance on TikTok
Let’s just say that Marian Rivera is enjoying thoroughly her time on TikTok.
A few weeks ago, Marian gave in to her fans’ request and danced the “Price Tag” dance challenge on the popular social media platform.
The 2011 hit song was recorded by British singer Jessie J and has gained renewed popularity on TikTok, thanks to a new choreography.
She followed it up with a dance performance of “It’s Plenty” by Burna Boy.
Both uploads quickly earned millions of views for Marian on TikTok, with fans clamoring for Marian to take on more dance challenges.
TURNING BACK TIME
On Saturday, August 26, 2023, Marian once again obliged fans by dancing to a tune that is close to Marian and her fans’ hearts.
Wrote Marian, “Getting so many requests for this dance challenge! Tara na.”
In the video, Marian — wearing a pink-colored shirt, a black baseball cap, and black pants — danced to the tune of “Sabay Sabay Tayo”
The said track was released in 2009, with Marian herself singing on it.
Marian, at the time of the release of the song, was at the height of her popularity, thanks to the success of the GMA-7 series Marimar and Dyesebel.
The video, as of the moment, has a whopping 17.2 million views on TikTok.
Her fans couldn’t be happier, making their feelings known in the comments section of Marian’s post.
A follower wrote, “OMG iconic talaga tong Sabay Sabay Tayo naalala ko naka platinum at golden award to.”
Another fan remarked, “Nakikinig talaga si Marian sa mga request.”
Marian, meanwhile, replied, “Always” coupled with a heart emoji.
MARIMAR SONG, NEXT?
With “Sabay Sabay Tayo” out of the way, fans now are clamoring for Marian to dance to the theme song of Marimar.
Marimar was the 2007 primetime drama series that shot Marian to fame.
The show was a remake of the popular Mexican telenovela released in 1994 and starring actress-singer Thalia.
It aired in the Philippines in 1996 on RPN-9 and was a phenomenal hit, ushering in the entry of more Mexican telenovelas, including other shows top-billed by Thalia, in the country.
GMA-7 made a local adaptation of Marimar a decade later and chose Marian to portray the lead role after passing the audition, with Dingdong Dantes as her leading man.
Years later, a video of the audition surfaced online, and with Marian’s dance number clearly showing why she was picked among other hopefuls.
Will Marian recreate her now iconic Marimar dance on TikTok as requested by fans? Is she up to the challenge?
