Nadine Lustre, Christophe Bariou to launch plant-based milk brand
Nadine Lustre pointed out that this is also their step to take care of the environment

Filipina actress Nadine Lustre and her non-showbiz boyfriend Christophe Bariou recently announced that it is launching a plant-based milk brand called Dehusk soon.

According to its official website, Dehusk is on a “mission” to bring delicious, high-quality, and affordable alt-milk to the Philippines by using coconut instead of fresh cow milk.

“We believe that dairy milk needs an upgrade, and that’s why we are committed to providing a plant-based alternative that is not only better for your stomach but also better for the planet,” the brand wrote online.

Dehusk’s co-founder, Sam Tecuala, explained in an interview with ANC that one of their initiatives was to ensure that everything is locally made and is from the Southeast Asian region. According to him, Dehusk is being manufactured in Quezon Province and the coconuts used for the product are from the same province as well.

This is also part of Nadine and Christophe’s shift to a greener lifestyle.

“The first reason why we switched to more plant-based [food and beverages] is really for the animals,” Nadine said in the same ANC interview, “You realize that these animals are actually individuals who deserve love and compassion, and who deserve to exist in this world as well.”

Quan Tan, another Dehusk co-founder, seconded Nadine’s comments on sustainability and shared the steps they took to ensure that they practiced this on their brand.

“Researches show that coconut milk production is half the CO2 equivalent of soy milk and requires little water and energy compared to other plant-based food products.”

According to the team, they are targeting to launch Dehusk this year and more updates will be posted soon on their official social media accounts.
