As of press time, the Antoinette Jadaone-directed film Never Not Love You has grossed over P81 million since its opening day. Apart from its success, the movie had its fair share of controversy between Antoinette and her lead stars James Reid and Nadine Lustre about the sudden cancelation of their shoot dates.

Writing on her blog entry in January, direk Tonet said, “Filming for [Never Not Love You] is becoming erratic. Sayang, andun na ang momentum eh. More and more shooting days canceled—some reasons more heartbreaking than others, so heartbreaking they make me cry.” Nadine then made a statement saying that during that time she was physically going through health issues that prevented her from going to work.

In a report by ABS-CBN, Tonet finally faced the press and talked about how she confronted her lead stars about the issue. “Ang ginawa ko nung lumabas yun, kinausap ko agad si Nadine. Yun ang first instinct ko. Actually nasa soap nga ako noon, nagdi-direct ako noon. Hindi ako makapag-direct. Hala kailangan ko makausap si bakla. So tinext ko siya, ‘Te, may ginagawa ka ba? Tawagan kita.’ Sabi niya, ‘Ay direk, nasa shoot ako.’ Minessage ko siya after,” she recalled in jest.

“Dapat kasi ganun. Kasi kapag mauunahan ka ng sinasabi ng iba, baka may tendency na yun ang papakinggan mo.”
