In the past 13 years that she has been in showbiz, Andrea Brillantes, who’s also affectionately called by people close to her by her real name “Blythe,” has never fallen short in radiating her ever-shining brilliance as an artist. Thus, we can all agree that she’s indeed one of the finest and brightest stars of her generation.

Like some of the celebrities who we look up to, she also started out as a child actress. We have witnessed how she has grown and bloomed into who she is at present – a versatile and talented artist and a beautiful, lovable, and strong young woman. And now, she’s poised to further astound us with her acting chops in her newest teleserye Senior High.

But before we get to see her portray not just one, but two characters in this youth-oriented series, let us look back first on some of her remarkable TV performances through the years in this Kapamilya Spotlight feature!

Same with a few of her contemporaries, or those who are quite older and younger than her, it was her stint in the long-running kiddie gag show Goin’ Bulilit that opened the doors for her to the industry. However, she had to leave the show right before the “graduation” age of 12 since she had to take on other projects. It was also in her debut year in 2010 when she scored her first role in a teleserye via Precious Hearts Romances Presents Alyna, wherein she played Sofia, the daughter of the titular character depicted by Shaina Magdayao.

Andrea then started taking on young counterparts of lead female characters in soap operas, such as young Jackie (Jessy Mendiola) in Budoy (2011), young Veronica (Andi Eigenmann) in Kahit Puso’y Masugatan (2012), and young Celyn (Kim Chiu) in Ina, Kapatid, Anak (2012). She also appeared in Wansapantaym episodes “Da Revengers” and “Doll House”, and in the sci-fi drama E-Boy as the boyish girl who loved fairytales named Princess.

In 2013, she impressed us with her performances in Bukas Na Lang Kita Mamahalin as young Amanda (Cristine Reyes) and in the Maalaala Mo Kaya episodes “Marriage Contract” and “Bimpo” as the younger versions of the lead female protagonists.

It was on that same year, too, when she had her first breakthrough after being chosen to take on the titular role in the remake of classic 80’s soap opera Annaliza. And in 2014, she went on to appear in the “My Guardian Angel” episode of Wansapanataym and in the family drama Hawak Kamay, which she topbilled alongside Piolo Pascual, Iza Calzado, Xyriel Manabat, Zaijian Jaranilla, Nikki Gil, and Yesha Camile.

She further showed off her versatility as a young thespian when she took part in the 2015 incarnation of the iconic series Pangako Sa ‘Yo as Lia Buenavista, the role that was originally by Jodi Sta. Maria, who was, by that time, picked to be the new Amor Powers.

And Andrea was indeed unstoppable as she scored three projects in 2017. She became part of the cast of the daytime series Ikaw Lang Ang Iibigin as Stephanie, the younger sister of Coleen Garcia’s Isabel. At the same time, she appeared in the “Louie’s Biton” narrative of Wansapanataym and in the “Siopao” episode of MMK.

The following year was another hectic one for her as she also got cast in three Kapamilya programs. First was in the fantasy-drama series Bagani as the young Matadora (Aiko Melendez), then in the “Dakip” episode of Ipaglaban Mo, and in the highly successful afternoon drama Kadenang Ginto, wherein she astounded us with her compelling portrayal of the bratty antagonist Marga Mondragon-Bartolome – marking her second breakthrough.

Amidst the pandemic in 2020 and 2021, she still had the chance to work on several projects. In 2020, she depicted the young Iza Calzado in an episode of the documentary show Paano Kita Mapapasalamatan? She then starred in the “Poser” episode of anthology streaming TV series “Click, Like, Share” in 2021, as well as in the inspirational serye Huwag Kang Mangamba as Mira Cruz and in the iWantTFC original series “Saying Goodbye.”

In 2022, she had the opportunity to not just showcase her acting prowess, but also her singing and dancing skills when she topbilled the iWantTFC youth-oriented musical series “Lyric and Beat,” as the titular character Lyric. It was succeeded by her stint in the “Engagement Ring” episode of MMK as the lupus-stricken Victoria, as well as in another iWantTFC series “Drag You & Me,” wherein she amazed us with her performance as young drag queen named Betty.

And this 2023, Andrea will once again exhibit her acting chops in the much-awaited teen drama Senior High as she takes on her first-ever dual role. She’s going to play estranged twin sisters Luna and Sky Cruz, with the latter having to find out the real reason behind the tragic demise of former.

Are you excited as us to witness her sure-fire performance in this upcoming series, Kapamilya? Well, you better not miss Senior High once it begins this coming August 28 on Kapamilya ChannelKapamilya Online Live, A2Z, and TV5!
