So, who else here spent last night—on Valentine’s Day, no less—sobbing in front of a screen after (or in my case, WHILE) watching Moira Dela Torre‘s “Paubaya” music video? Yup, I’m sure I wasn’t alone. In fact, the video has gained over five million views on YouTube as of press time. Ang dami nating sawi sa pag-ibigno? (Hahahuhu)

Moira’s latest music video, “Paubaya,” was a surprise drop yesterday, February 14, and starred real-life exes Joshua Garcia and Julia Barretto in their first project since 2020. “Paubaya” is the last chapter of Moira’s Patawad era, her 2020 album of the same name.

The 11-minute-long mv tells the story of a couple who fall in love and get engaged; but on their wedding day, the bride (Julia) leaves the groom (Joshua) at the altar. What makes the video so real and heartbreaking is the six-minute-long ~closure~ scene between the two inside the church where they were supposed to get married. Interestingly, the two actors used their real names in this scene and clips of their personal trips together were inserted in the video…which, tbh, is what wrecked me even more. It was as if Joshua and Julia were, in fact, talking about their own failed relationship and thanking each other for all the memories they shared together. Fun fact: Joshua and Julia are credited as scriptwriters for the mv!

If you don’t have the heart/courage/strength to go through the mv, we gotchu, boo. Read their dialogue below:

Julia: I’m sorry. I’m sorry, Josh. I’m sorry, napagod ako. I’m sorry, nawala ako. Natakot ako kasi hindi kita mahanap noon. Binigay ko lahat. Binigay ko sa’yo lahatnaubos lang ako. I’m sorry nasaktan kita.

Joshua: Sorry.

Joshua: Yeah. We tried.

Thank you.

Joshua: Thank you.

Julia. Thank you. Thank you.

Joshua: Thank you…Oh, God…Gusto ko malaman mo na pinapatawad kita.

Julia: Pinapatawad din kita.

Joshua: Kailangan ko…Take care of yourself…I need to…

It was in June 2019 when love team partners and real-life lovers, Joshua Garcia and Julia Barretto, confirmed to the press that they were broken up and back to being “best friends.” JoshLia starred in a slew of hit movies and TV shows from 2016 to 2020, like Love You To The Stars And BackNgayon At Kailanman, and Block Z, to name a few.
