Joshua Garcia’s Viral ‘Un/Happy For You’ Outtake Has Us Crying, emotions are dominated

Joshua Garcia's viral crying scene for 'Un/Happy For You'

Joshua Garcia is shaping up to be an actor in his own league. Time and time again, the Pinoy Big Brother alum strives to give us something new and memorable with his projects. And he’s done it again with his recent film, Un/Happy For You. Star Cinema, the movie’s production company, uploaded an almost six-minute behind-the-scenes video of Joshua nailing one of the scenes with him still bawling even after they complete the shot.

Star Cinema’s TikTok post reads, “The heartbreaking rain scene!” In the sequence, Joshua could be seen drinking, weeping, in agony, and drenched in the rain. Joshua plays the character of Juancho in the film, who is Zy’s (Julia Barretto) ex-boyfriend.

In case you haven’t heard, the Star Magic artist top-billed the aforementioned film together with Julia a.k.a. his former love team partner and ex-girlfriend IRL. It was their comeback to the big screen since they called it quits sometime in 2019. It’s safe to say that the movie has been well-received with over P320 million in gross sales since it was first released on August 14, 2024.

In the clip, veteran actors Nonie Buencamino and Ketchup Eusebio joined Joshua in the scene—trying to bring him back to his senses as Juancho. Not to spoil you or whatever guys, but in that scene, Juancho was drowning out his agony and heartbreak from his failed relationship with Zy.

And Joshua delivered in that scene! He wasn’t just crying—he perfectly portrayed a heartbroken person’s pain and longing for someone. But what amazed fans more than his acting chops in the uploaded video clip was how he couldn’t break away from crying.

It can be heard from the clip that the director had already shouted “Cut!” which means it’s time for the scene to end and that they got the needed shot already. However, Joshua remained in his position and still sobbing.

The 26-year-old was comforted and supported by his fellow senior actors, Nonie and Ketchup, as they waited for Joshua to get over his crying scene. Julia also ran to give some towels and comfort Joshua after the scene.

Fans amazed at Joshua Garcia’s behind-the-scenes acting clip

We love seeing these kinds of behind-the-scenes from actors—it’s like a closer look into their work. Whether they had watched the movie or not, fans flocked to the comments section and wrote how much they appreciated Joshua’s craft because of the clip. “Ganyan pala ‘pag heavy scene madadala talaga sa emosyon ang actor…professionalism at its finest,” one comment read.

Another commenter was very much in awe of how real Joshua’s weeping felt. “Totohanan pala talaga ‘yung hagulgol,” they said. Someone also wrote that it was Joshua utilizing method acting—according to Studiobinder, it’s an acting technique that enables the actor to emotionally “inhabit” his/her role. It focuses more on adapting and accepting the emotions of the roles played instead of just focusing on the character’s actions only.

Other than praising Joshua’s acting technique, someone mentioned how it might have been a difficult scene for the actor as it might be so close to reality—meaning to say his breakup with Julia before. “Totoong emotion ni Joshua ng iniwan sya ni Julia, bumalik ulit ang pain kaya kahit cut na ang acting umiiyak pa din siya kasi ramdam at na-experience niya yan in real life kay Julia!” the comment read.

Regardless of how Joshua was able to emit such emotions in that scene, he deserves a slow and lasting applause from his gratifying performance in Un/Happy For You. Congrats for that, Joshua!
