Kathryn Bernardo cherishes being able to finally say “no”

Kathryn Bernardo considers being more assertive and learning to say "NO" as one of the biggest gifts and miracles of her life; graces May 2024 cover for Preview.ph x POND's

Since ringing in the dragon year of 2024, Kathryn Bernardo has made it clear through her words and actions that she has entered a significantly new chapter of her life.

At the heart of this journey lies her newfound ability to say “no” — a skill honed over years of navigating the highs and lows of the showbiz world.

BECOMING MORE ASSERTIVE

For the May 2024 cover of Preview.ph, Kathryn graced the front page with Gen Z star Belle Mariano, making miracles happen with POND’s.

Embracing change, Kathryn described how even her outlook in handling trials evolved over time: “My challenges last year were different from when I was younger.

“But I’m learning to accept that challenges evolve, and I can’t control if they get tougher.”

She eventually settled with learning to protect her peace by focusing on her blessings, instead of her losses.

“Sometimes, before sleeping, I realize, ‘Who am I to complain, e ito lang pinagdadaanan ko? The world doesn’t revolve around me,’” she said.

“This reminds me how blessed and lucky I am. It helps me end my day with gratitude.”

The A Very Good Girl lead star affirmed: “The biggest gift, is I was able to give myself new confidence and trust in myself.

“Now, I’m free to navigate my life and make decisions. Now, I know how to say no.”

KATHRYN’S MIRACLES

Speaking of blessings, Kathryn also related the inkling of miracles she receives on a daily basis — including self-care.

“A miracle is something that happens when you least expect it,” she reflected.

“But for them to happen, you have to work hard. You need to believe it and work for it.

“There are days when I don’t feel confident and beautiful. But I surround myself with friends and family who encourage me.”

Concluding with a call to action, she expressed: “[Now,] I choose what I want to see, what I want to hear, and who I surround myself with.

“I select what truly deserves my attention. Self-care is not optional, self-care is mandatory.”
