Nadine Lustre Shares How Living in Siargao Made Her Re-Evaluate Her Lifestyle Choices

Siargao has been a home to Nadine Lustre for almost a year now. The surfing haven has positively influenced the singer-actress in more ways than one, and she makes sure to give back whenever she can. In a recent upload featured on Dr. Aivee Teo‘s YouTube channel, she shares that her time there has even pushed her to take on a new goal: to become a pescatarian, and eventually, a vegetarian.

“Now, I’m focusing on [my] health and fitness. I’m eating more healthy food,” Nadine states. Such a drastic diet change isn’t easy for anyone, especially for the 28-year-old who’s a self-professed meat-lover. “You really have to dive into it. You can’t be half-assed [about it],” she says. “I’m such a foodie so it’s difficult, but I’m willing to try.”

Nadine finds this lifestyle shift to be particularly challenging whenever she’s here in Manila. Since she doesn’t cook on her own, she has to depend on restaurants and other food outlets that have more fish or vegetarian options. Meanwhile, she points out that “it’s not really hard to be pescatarian or vegan in Siargao.” The multi-hyphenate goes on to share that “there [are] so many good options [there] for food like lutong bahay. There’s a lot of things you can do with veggies.”

Bagay siya sa lifestyle mo sa Siargao,” Dr. Aivee says in response.

To which, Nadine agrees. “[When] you’re on an island, of course you would want to eat seafood and fruits,” she quips.

Nadine’s diet wasn’t the only thing that got refreshed after living in Siargao. Her disposition in life and how she goes about it have also gone through a transition. “I’m just enjoying the present. I’m not always on my phone, watching everyone’s [Instagram] stories. It’s really the place,” she says.
