It’s safe to say that Alden Richards and Kathryn Bernardo‘s first movie together, Hello, Love, Goodbye, is a box office hit. On its opening day alone on July 31, it already earned 34 million pesos. The movie is about two Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) in Hong Kong.

Alden Richards Is Thrilled With The Successful Opening Day Of ‘Hello, Love, Goodbye’

The movie earned 34 million!

If you’ve seen the trailer of the movie, there’s that scene where Kathryn’s character, Joy, tells Alden’s character, Ethan, “I love you,” and Ethan replies, “Kaso I don’t love you.”

In a video uploaded by Star Cinema, Kathryn and Alden share fun facts about making the film, including why that particular “I love you-I don’t love you” scene actually took a long time to film.

The video opens with Kathryn and Alden belting out a line from the movie’s theme song, “Kung ‘Di Rin Lang Ikaw.” They then watch the “I love you” scene together and Alden even poked fun at how he said the words “Sa susunod.”

“This scene was shot in two days,” Alden revealed. “Medyo mahirap kasi yung scene. And at the same time, ang daming external factors na kino-consider that time. Light continuity, since we’re shooting the light background behind us. By the time na it was my reverse shot, nagsimatayan na yung ilaw. So we had to come back the second time plus yung hangin, tapos maulan pa that time.”

Here’s where Kathryn connects the dots to the time her boyfriend Daniel Padilla surprised her when he visited her in Hong Kong when the Hello, Love, Goodbye team was busy filming the movie.

“‘Yung scene na ‘yan, ‘yan yung sinurprise ako ni DJ,” Kathryn shared. “So ginawa nila tinago nila si DJ kasi mabigat yung scene na ‘yan. So kinailangan kong maging malungkot nung day na ‘yan. Nung umaga pa lang, dumating na pala si DJ, pero tinago nila sa room para hindi ako maging happy.”

Alden and Kathryn go on to talk about why that scene is so important in the movie and how it sets the stage for their characters’ transformation in the film.

“Ang laking bagay nung script and how it was written to make this scene work kasi wala nakaupo lang naman tayo, nag-uusap lang,” Alden said, facing Kathryn. “It was really the lines, and how Direk Cathy directed it and how Kath and I did the scene. Kumbaga, collaboration siya.”

Kathryn has a super important tip to share with those who haven’t watched the movie yet. Listen well.

“‘Pag ‘yun yung palabas sa sinehan, wag kayong doon mag-CR kasi importante siya,” Kathryn shared. LOL!

“We’re very happy,” Alden said when asked to share how he felt when he saw the scene for the first time. “Parang hindi kami. When I saw it, ‘di ko nakita si Kath. Tapos parang ‘di ko rin nakita sarili ko.”

Kathryn along with other ABS-CBN stars was recently part of a network event in San Francisco, and will be promoting Hello, Love, Goodbye with Alden in the Middle East. Alden, on the other hand, is set to appear in a new GMA teleserye.
