A new queen was crowned Binibining Pilipinas International 2024.

Myrna Esguerra, a proud delegate from the province of Abra, won the title at the 60th Binibining Pilipinas grand coronation night.

The event, held at the Araneta Coliseum on July 7, 2024, also witnessed the reunion of more than 100 beauty queens onstage, honoring and celebrating six decades of Filipina beauty and grace.

To clinch her victory, Myrna bested 39 exceptionally talented and beautiful candidates from across the Philippines.

FULL NAME

Myrna was given the birth name Myrna Toribio Esguerra.

BIRTHDAY

A Libra whose birthday falls on October 2, 2001, she is set to turn 23 before the year ends.

She stands at a height of 173 centimeters or approximately 5 feet and 8 inches tall, with an enviable waistline of 22 inches.

Although she spent a good amount of her life in Angeles City, Pampanga, Myrna hails from the Municipality of Pidigan in Abra.

EDUCATION

As a teenager, Myrna moved to Pampanga, where she lived in Barangay Anunas, Angeles City.

From there, she pursued a bachelor’s degree in tourism and management with specialization on MICE (meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions) events, business administration and management at the City College of Angeles.

While in school, she participated its annual beauty contest, ultimately winning the title of Miss City College of Angeles 2022.

CAREER

According to her LinkedIn profile, Myrna started her professional career in modeling at the age of 20 as a print-ad model for Philippine Airlines, Clark Marriott Hotel, and Omni Aviation in Clark Philippines.

This Instagram post, which was put out on September 13, 2022, was about her stint as a model of designer Rich Sabinian for his exquisite pieces at the Bridal Expo Filipino 2022.

In August 2023, she dabbled in special events coordination as a part-time employee of Top Tier Events and Management.

A month later, she was spotted on the runway of Bench Holiday Season Fashion Show 2023, walking for fashion designer Chris Nick’s set. It was held at The Playground, Bench Tower in Bonifacio Glocal City.

Her LinkedIn profile mentioned her knack for hosting, a skill she recently embraced after overcoming her fear of public speaking.

As a pageant candidate, Myrna has always introduced herself as a self-sufficient woman who has been financing her own studies from the age of 17.

MISS TEEN PHILIPPINES 2019

Myrna’s foray into the pageant world began with Miss Teen Philippines 2019.

Representing Angeles City at the time, she competed against 30 other delegates during the coronation night on May 8, 2019, at the New Frontier Theater in Cubao, Quezon City.

Unfortunately, she did not make it to the top five.

MISS ABRA 2023

Undeterred by her previous loss, Myrna tried her hand again in national pageants through Miss Abra 2023, representing the municipality of Pidigan.

This time, she won the title after going up against 26 other candidates on March 7, 2023, at the Abra Sports Complex in Bangued, Abra.

On March 8, 2024, she crowned her successor Miss Abra 2024 Jeralene Acosta.

MYRNA BECOMES FIRST-EVER BB. PILIPINAS ABRA

Myrna’s biggest win yet came after the esteemed Binibining Pilipinas 2024 competition.

When she made it to the list of top 15 contestants, Myrna was asked: “If a time machine brings you back to 1964, 60 years ago when Binibining Pilipinas began, what message would you tell the Filipino women of that time about the women of 2024?”

The beauty queen from Abra answered, “I will tell to the women of the past that we have achieved our goal, which is to empower women.”

She added: “Standing here at the age of 17, I started to finance for my own studies and help my family financially.

“I was able to do this by all these women who paved the way to empower us to always reach for our goals no matter what it is.

“Because in life we can always achieve our dreams as long that we believe that we can. And thanks to them all.”

Apart from the coveted crown, Myrna also bagged five special awards including Best in National CostumeBest in SwimsuitBest in Evening Gown, and Binibining Philippine Airlines.

Meanwhile, Jasmin Bungay of Pampanga was crowned Binibining Globe 2024, with Christal dela Cruz of Zambales and Trisha Martinez of Pila, Laguna, finishing as first runner-up and second runner-up, respectively.

MISS INTERNATIONAL 2025

Binibining Pilipinas International 2023 Angelica Lopez will represent the Philippines in the Miss International pageant, which will be held in Tokyo, Japan, this year.

Myrna will be the country’s bet for Miss International 2025.

Interestingly, 60 years ago, on July 5, 1964, Binibining Pilipinas hailed its first beauty queen, Maria Myrna Panlilio.
