Coco Martin expresses frustration over shutdown issue
Coco Martin is not mincing words in a recent Facebook Live event when talking about the recent shutdown of ABS-CBN.
As reported on Rappler, the actor questioned the government’s action in the said video, saying that they were more focused on shutting down ABS-CBN instead of paying attention to all the other needs of the country.
Stressing that ABS-CBN and its artistes have been serving Filipinos by paying their taxes and entertaining their people around the world, he asked, “At this time, what are we going to prioritise? Remove the company helping others, helping Filipinos? Or the gambling that has entered our country? The POGOs are lucky, you are fighting for them.”
This in reference to the government’s previous decision to permit the Philippine Offshore Gaming Operations (POGOs) to resume operations as long as they pay their taxes.
“Our country is going through a crisis right now and I wish they thought of the people, that they let this blow over, and then we all head to Congress and see what the results will be. That’s all,” he added.
