The Dingdong-Karylle break up was confirmed today in an exclusive interview the ex-lovebirds did with Philippine Star columnist Ricky Lo.

“Actually, pagkatapos lumabas yun, hinihingi ko po sana na wag na munang iungkat o pag-usapan. Because I’d like to deal with it some time later on. Sana wag ngayon sa panahon na may pelikula because ayoko namang mabigyan ng ibang kahulugan.” Text by Jillian Q. Gatcheco. Photos by Mitch S. Mauricio.

Dingdong Dantes is referring to his break up with Karylle, with whom he had a three-year relationship. This was confirmed today in an exclusive interview the ex-lovebirds did with Philippine Star columnist Ricky Lo. In the article, Dingdong stated, “I don’t want our break-up to be used as promo for my movie with Marian. Ever since we started going steady, Karylle and I tried to draw a line between our careers and our private lives. “It was the result of a long process. Basta, nagka-iba ang priorities namin. We did try hard to iron things out and save our relationship, but…”

During iGMA’s visit yesterday to the set of GMA Films’ One True Love, Dingdong explained that he does not blame the public for their various interpretations for the break-up, especially since he and Karylle remained mum about it until now. “Wala akong pwedeng hingin sa kanila, because I cannot control their interpretations, at kung ano gusto nilang isipin. “You couldn’t prevent people from thinking that way, kaya nga we’re here, answering questions.

To clarify. Ako, I’m always for the truth, and at the end of the day, it will all come out.” As expected, people have insinuated that the break-up was caused by Marian Rivera, Dingdong’s three-time leading lady. “Kahit lumalabas noon na issue about us, she really has nothing to do about it,” he stressed. “I would like to maintain the status quo. We’re good. I believe my partnership with Marian is working well this way.

So we don’t want to destroy whatever we have.” In a separate interview, Marian said, “Even though we did MariMar before, we said [raw]. Do you know that? Until Dyesebel, we are still. Nagyon [in One True Love], we are still. It’s up to them!” What can she say about the nicknames that people have started calling her—”anaconda,” or “snake?” “It’s not like I’m saying it’s okay to call me that, right? But what I always say is, one day, the truth will come out that I really had nothing to do with it, and I’m out of there. “And I always say in my interviews, I am not a selfish person. I will not create a situation, just to be happy, just to hurt someone. I will never in my life steal the boyfriend of someone who has a boyfriend , so I can have a boyfriend. Men approach me, never me.”

She added that she and Dingdong never talked about his problems with Karylle, and that she respects his privacy in his relationships. When Dingdong was asked if the “confirmation” published today hurt him in any way, he replied, “Hindi naman, because we’re being asked, and I think you deserve to know. Kung hindi naman ako tatanungin, I will not say anything.” He added, however, “Yung mga sinasabi ng tao, yes, it’s really very hurtful, pero tatanggapin ko na lang yun, I will remain this way. Because I believe para sa amin [ni K], it’s better to keep the privacy.” Will Karylle remain a special part of his life? “Syempre. Hindi pwedeng hindi,” Dingdong answered. “We have so many good things together, and that will always be there.”
