Celebrity couple Marian Rivera and Dingdong Dantes are set to receive a recognition for their blockbuster movie “Rewind” at the upcoming Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences (FAMAS) Awards.
The prestigious ceremony will be honoring the best of the bests in Philippine cinema, happening on May 26 at the Fiesta Pavilion in Manila Hotel.
In Facebook posts shared by the award-giving body, it announced that Marian and Dingdong will be both given the FAMAS Bida sa Takilya awards.
“Marian Rivera, FAMAS Bida sa Takilya Awardee. For being the lead actress of the movie “Rewind” which is the highest-grossing Philippine film of all time,” the post read.
“Dingdong Dantes, FAMAS Bida sa Takilya Awardee. For being the lead actor of the movie “Rewind” which is the highest-grossing Philippine film of all time,” FAMAS wrote in a separate post.
First given in 1986, the mentioned award is given to actors who starred in a blockbuster movie.
“Rewind”, which was one of the entries of the Metro Manila Film Festival entry, marked as the comeback project of DongYan.
During its time in cinemas, “Rewind” shattered records, becoming the highest-grossing Filipino film, after earning a total of ₱902 million sales. It surpassed the 2019 movie “Hello, Love, Goodbye”, which starred Alden Richards and Kathryn Bernardo.
