One of Andrea Brillantes‘ latest gigs involved appearing in the music video for Tahanan, OPM artist Adie‘s latest single. As the crooner sings about finding a home in his lover, Andrea is seen having a couple of sweet moments with him. They hold a picnic by a lake, take photos of one another, and munch on bread.

In one scene, Andrea can be seen cooking what appears to be sliced hotdogs for Adie. As it went on, viewers were left with knit eyebrows after the 19-year-old raised her spatula and took a sip of the “oil” the hotdogs were in.
 

Netizens were quick to pose their questions. Many were left wondering why she tasted the oil, which was presumably hot from the pan.



Meanwhile, others were left curious and couldn’t help but ask the actress what it tasted like. Some users even hilariously coined the meal she was preparing “sinigang na hotdog”.

 


Amidst the seeming blunder going viral on social media, the director of the video, Kris Ulrich Cazin, came out to explain that Andrea was really meant to “taste” the hotdog oil as it was cooking.

“Before taking the scene, originally, tubig lang yung nakalagay para kumulo tapos makita lang na may usok for practical effects, and ayoko na paglutuin si Blythe for safety reasons,” he explains. “Tapos nagulat na lang sila [na] nag-chop ako ng hotdog tapos nilagay ko sa pan. I just thought it [looked] dumb so l went for it.”

Kris goes on to say that Andrea preparing the food in that way was meant to show just how much she “loved” Adie. “Don’t expect all women, jowa, o asawa na marunong magluto (hindi siya gender role). Ipagluluto ka pa rin niya kahit di siya marunong magluto. Slow mo pa rin ang pagtingin mo sa kanya, mahal mo pa rin siya despite [na] mukha siyang ewan na umiinom ng sabaw ng hotdog. If you think it’s funny and stupid, that’s the point!”
