Kris Aquino relationships

Who among the men from Kris Aquino’s past could have been her perfect match?

Born on the day the whole world celebrates the month of hearts, Kris Aquino has a dating history filled with stories of triumphs and tears that the public witnessed through the years.

PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) rounded up the controversial men in the life of the Queen of All Media, who turns 46 years old today, February 14, 2017.

Who among the men from her past could have been her perfect match?

1. ALVIN PATRIMONIO. He was a PBA superstar when he caught the attention of Kris Aquino.

“He was once my fantasy,” Kris admitted in an interview with Boy Abunda on Private Conversations in 2000.

Kris recalled how Alvin admitted on national television his crush on her.

She added, “When he sent me tickets to watch his first game, that started it all.”

While she said her relationship with Alvin went “far enough” for him to be the very first guy she cried over for, Kris quipped she was not gorgeous enough for him to seriously pursue her.

“Unfortunately, at the time, may nauna na sa akin. Cindy was already part of the picture. Siguro crush lang ako.”

She was referring to Cindy Conwi, whom Alvin married in 1989.

In hindsight, Kris admitted to regretting one thing: she failed take Alvin’s phone call the night she turned 18 years old.

2. AGA MUHLACH. In the same Private Conversations interview, Kris confessed, “Aga Muhlach was my first love.”

But she didn’t elaborate on how she and Aga became an item.

Kris and Aga headlined two movies together: Humanda Ka Mayor! (Bahala na ang Diyos) in 1993 and Bakit Pa Kita Minahal? in 1994.

3. GABBY CONCEPCION. Kris’s mom, Corazon Aquino, was still the country’s president when Gabby courted her.

The two starred in the 1990 movie Pangako Ng Puso.

Teddy Boy Locsin—who worked as the late presiden’s minister of information and legal counsel—recalled that the Presidential Security Group ran a background check on Kris’s suitors, including Gabby.

“Gabby was the first, I think,” said Teddy in a Kontrobersyal interview with Boy Abunda in 2003.

“The presidential security gave me a picture of Gabby and her. So we were watching out for her.”

4. ROBIN PADILLA.

He first met Kris during her 18th birthday TV special.

Robin, who admittedly had a huge crush on the host-actress, revealed that he courted her by sending love letters.

When they finally became a couple, Robin said that Kris brought him to several events in Malacanang because her mom was the President at that time.

There were talks, however, that Cory was not in favor of their relationship, which the action star described as “you and me against the world.”

But in the end, Robin admitted that it was his own fault he and Kris broke up.

In a 2010 interview published on ABS-CBN News Online, Robin said, “Adik ako nun.mHindi ko na-value ang ginagawa niya. Nung tapos na, saka ko na-value. Ako ang may diperensiya.

5. PHILIP SALVADOR. Kris Aquino and Philip Salvador’s romance blossomed while they were shooting the film Nandito Ako in 1994.

The bone of contention between Kris and her mom Cory, a known devout Catholic, was the fact that Philip was still married to his estranged wife.

The couple were together for five years until they called it quits in 1999.

They have a son named Joshua Philip.

“Kung natanggap lang talaga ng mommy ko si Philip, we’d stay together,” said Kris in her Private Conversations interview.

“Malaking factor sa akin yun. As much as I have grown up, I am still a mama’s girl.”

6. VIC SOTTO.

On YES! magazine’s November 2003 cover story, it was reported that Kris admitted to dating Vic “a couple of times in the past, particularly during the time after Ipe and before Joey.”

Ipe is the nickname of Philip Salvador, Kris’s former live-in partner.

She clarified, however, that her romance with Vic did not prosper.

The first time Kris alluded to her romantic involvement with the Eat Bulaga! host was when she had a live interview on TV Patrol in September 2003, to talk about her breakup with Joey Marquez.

Kris mentioned that Joey accused her of keeping in touch with Vic regularly via her phone.

But she alleged that it was Joey’s tactic to make her feel guilty when he was actually the one who wronged her.

7. JOEY MARQUEZ.

Kris had an extramarital affair with then Paranaque City Mayor Joey Marquez for “one year and seven months.”

According to YES! Magazine’s November 2003 cover story, the affair began soon after Kris did an exclusive interview with Joey at the Manila Hotel for The Buzz’s March 2002 episode.

Ironically, the topic of the interview was Joey’s separation from his wife of 12 years, Alma Moreno.

The new couple encountered their first brush with scandal when Kris and Alma crossed paths at the Asian Hospital in Muntinlupa, where Joey was confined due to hypertension.

While the controversy caused a cooling-off period between Joey and Kris, the two eventually kissed and made up.

It was on September 24, 2003, when Kris went live on TV Patrol and accused Joey of threatening her life.

She spilled details of their alleged violent fight at a condo unit in Taguig where they lived together.

She further shocked the public with her confession that she allegedly acquired a sexually-transmitted disease (STD) from Joey.

Joey, for his part, denied Kris’s accusations and insisted that he has nothing to say sorry for.

The ex-couple’s major word war lasted until Joey appeared live on GMA Network’s Frontpage on October 2, 2003, and made his public apology to Kris.

Prior to Joey’s public apology, Kris retracted the four legal complaints she filed against him.

At the signing of their settlement, the two had a closed-door meeting for the final closure of their relationship.

8. JAMES YAP. Kris and cager James Yap first met on February 6, 2005, at a restaurant in Greenhills, San Juan.

In YES! Magazine’s 2011 cover story, James recalled that he was the one who asked his talent manager Dondon Monteverde to set up a meeting with Kris, his crush back in high school.

On July 10, 2005, just five months after they met, James and Kris tied the knot in a private ceremony held at the Quezon City house of Kris’s best friend, Boy Abunda.

The couple were eventually blessed with one child, James Yap Jr. aka Bimby.

Kris and James had their share of marital troubles, the most controversial of which were about his alleged infidelity.

On February 24, 2007, Hope Centeno, former receptionist of Belo Medical Clinic, revealed on GMA Network’s Startalk that she and James had an affair from “March 2006 to January 2007.”

James, for his part, denied Hope’s allegation and insisted that she merely schedules his facial sessions in the clinic.

The then seven-month-pregnant Kris stood by her husband.

But on June 27, 2010, Kris announced on The Buzz that her marriage with James is “over.”

The next series of events resulted in a media frenzy about the estranged couple’s lack of prenup agreement, eventual filing of annulment, and settlement.

Kris and James’s marriage was declared null and void by the court on January 9, 2012.

9. HERBERT BAUTISTA.

Kris and mayor of Quezon City became a couple for “three months” in 2014.

Although their relationship was short-lived, it went as far as Herbert proposing marriage to Kris “on the first Friday of April” that year.

But it took a year later when Kris revealed the details of the mayor’s no-nonsense marriage proposal.

In her February 2015 blog post, Kris wrote, “He said, walang romance, walang lokohan, walang bolahan. Okay na raw ba ko to marry him kasi nga PAGOD na siya?”

She also revealed that Herbert broke up with her on April 8, 2014, the day after she announced their relationship via live telecast on Aquino and Abunda Tonight.

On Bandila‘s June 6, 2014 episode, the Quezon City mayor hinted at the reason he and Kris couldn’t be together: his children.

Prior to his admission, it was reported that he stopped dating Kris due to the supposed disapproval of his children.
