Comparisons between Anthony Edwards and Michael Jordan got out of hand a while ago, ever since the rumor that Ant was the long lost son of Michael. Otherplayers have also been linked to a potential unacknowledged parenthood, people like Jimmy Butler comes to mind as well. However, Anthony Edwards has been the one who has the most comparisons and many of Michael Jordan’s characteristics. In fact, there are similarities we can grab from this year’s Team USA Olympic Team and compare them to the 1992 team, when Michael Jordan was just about to kick off his brilliant decade-long run. During that era, he still wasn’t considered the best player because people from the old guard were there. Namely Larry Bird and Magic Johnson.

Similarities between Anthony Edwards and Michael Jordan for Team USA

Although Anthony Edwards still hasn’t won a single championship, Michael Jordan already had two of them when he arrived at the 1992 Olympics. On the very next season after Barcelona, Jordan would go on to win his first of two three-peats. Anthony Edwards’ best achievement so far has been to lead the Minnesota Timberwolves to a decent Playoff run after staying at the top of the Western Conference all season. But he still hasn’t won the championship. This summer, he will also share the dressing room with some of the game’s biggest legends who are passing the torch to the new generations. People like LeBron James, Kevin Durant, or Stephen Curry are set to lead the team where Edwards is considered one of the young guns.

It’s safe to say that the new great player title from this team will be between Jayson Tatum, Joel Embiid, and Anthony Edwards. However, the Timberwolves star is the one who resembles Michael Jordan’s game the most. Everybody knows it and Ant has never really shied away from it. But on Thursday, the Team USA social media team tried to get him in a gotcha moment. When they asked which player from that 1992 Dream Team does his game resembles the most, Ant just said: “No!” And smiled after the question, people in the comments clearly knew he wasn’t falling for the bait. Durant did mention Michael, but Ant was quick with his response.
