It’s Showtime host Darren Espanto revealed his past romantic relationship with Kapuso actress Kyline Alcantara.
On Fast Talk with Boy Abunda on Monday, Darren was asked about Kyline’s trending guest appearance on the said noontime show last April 10, during which the two appeared to be having a “kilig” rapport with each other.

“What is the true story? Sabihin mo sa akin ang totoo Darren… Naging kayo? It’s answerable by Yes or No,” King of Talk Boy Abunda asked Darren.

“Hindi ko po masagot ng yes or no kasi it was a puppy love kind of thing,” Darren answered.

“But there was?” Boy asked to which Darren immediately replied, “Opo. Before when we were younger.”

“So it was a formal puppy love relationship,” Boy pointed out.

“Yeah,” Darren agreed.

In his interview, Darren also clarified what Kyline was trying to say during her guesting on the noontime show, using the phrase “Kasi nga…”

Darren said, “Kasi nga mako-complete ko na po ‘yung sentence. Kasi nga naging kami dati, so kaya binibiro kami ni Ate Vice [Ganda].”

The Kapamilya singer revealed that his relationship with Kyline lasted for one year and a half. Talking about why they broke up, he said, “There was some misunderstanding, and then when we were both mature, parang six years later napag-usapan na namin and eventually we became okay with each other again, naging friends ulit kami.”

Darren clarified that there was no third party involved with their breakup, “Misunderstandings talaga kasi siyempre kapag mga bata parang [may] konting mga petty na away.”

It can be recalled that Darren and Kyline are also acquainted with the Legaspi Twins, Mavy, and Cassy Legaspi. Darren and Cassy are best friends, and Mavy was Kyline’s previous on-screen partner.
