Together with their production team, they stayed in Calgary for a month — shooting in different locations, facing different challenges.

“I think ‘yung weather, weather’s a big dilemma sa amin especially exterior scenes,” said Richards.

For Bernardo, the “biggest challenge so far ‘yung bwelo for me. Medyo nahihirapan akong bumwelo kasi my last project was ‘A Very Good Girl’ pa, and then I didn’t do anything aside from TVCs and digital shoots, medyo nag-adjust lang ako.”

But with the guidance of their director Cathy Garcia Sampana, and the love and support from the Filipino community in Canada, Bernardo and Richards were able to pull off some of the big and challenging scenes in the movie.

“All the Filipinos here are very supportive, and the team we feel so much love here in Calgary,” according to Richards.

“So much love from Calgary especially from the Filipino community here, like today part yung iba ng scenes,” said Bernardo.

Richards and Bernardo revealed that the story and their characters have evolved into something more mature and intense, given the circumstances that Ethan and Joy have gone through throughout the pandemic and when Joy left Hong Kong to give Canada a try.

The actor said, “Parang sobrang iba from the first, difference ng script and storytelling, napakalayo from the first. Sobrang up a notch doon sa original story.”

While their characters and the scenes required so much from them, Bernardo and Richards found refuge and drew strength from each other. They admitted that they became closer this time around, compared to when they were doing “Hello Love Goodbye.”

Richards affirmed: “Yes, mas familiar, mas comfortable.”

Bernardo said their current dynamics fit like a glove with what is required in their roles.

“’Yun ‘yung sakto I think sa story din, kasi sa first part doon lang naman nag-meet si Joy at Ethan then how many years fast forward here we are again doing the part 2 so sakto din ‘yung dynamics namin ngayon and where we are now sa hinihingi ng ‘Hello Love Again’.”

We candidly asked the two how close they have become?

“Parang ngayon nga nag-uusap kami ni Kath everytime na kaming dalawa lang na ngayon lang talaga namin nakilala ang isa’t isa kasi before ‘HLG’ wala namang chance to really talk to each other. Mas comfortable, mas familiar like I said, ‘yun ‘yung parang nagiging way namin to make this film even more effective than the first part,” said Richards.

For Bernardo, “I think safe to say na compared to ‘Hello, Love, Goodbye’ to ‘Hello, Love, Again’ parang medyo malaki ang change nu’n kasi iba ‘yung naging set-up then sa working environment kasi iba din naman kung paano kami ngayon tapos mas nakilala ko na over the years so if we’re talking about comfortability, nandu’n kami sa stage na very comfortable na we can talk about anything.”

“Hello Love Again” will hit cinemas on November 13.
